LH peak without ovulation

I haven't had my period for 6 months now. My gynecologist is having me get my blood drawn weekly to check hormone levels. In the meantime, I'm doing ovulation tests sporadically, you never know, right? One day I got a positive ovulation test, but later it turned out I didn't actually ovulate. I've heard that a positive ovulation test (LH peak) doesn't always indicate ovulation, but can someone explain how that's possible? My estrogen and progesterone levels are extremely low
