Eppo – What do you think?

We're expecting our first baby in a couple of months. We want a short, tough, and original name that doesn't sound too out there. Eppo is on our minds, but we're still a tiny bit hesitant. What do you all think? Since the name is practically non-existent and hardly anyone knows it, it's hard to gauge how others will perceive it. Thanks in advance for your honest opinions!

The name is indeed not very well-known. I know it as an animal name haha, which is why I wouldn't choose it myself. By the way, is it for a boy or a girl?

    For a boy :-)

It reminds me of the comic magazine Eppo.

I'm thinking about the EPO injections

I'm also thinking of Epo. Sorry, but my name won't be it.

We always used the name Eppo for someone who wasn't quite right

I don't think much of it, sorry..

Eppo was a word we used for someone acting weird.

Those are also names that don't occur very often, I think.... maybe you can use them..

I think he's quite nice and cheerful. The one I know who's called Eppo is also cheerful and friendly. So only positive associations.

I don't think much of it either. I work in healthcare, and I'm indeed also thinking about the EPO injections.

Just like Mama93, we used the name Eppo for a strange guy from the neighborhood who wasn't quite 100%...
If multiple people have that association, I'd definitely choose a different name.

We use it in the family as gekkie malle eppo or malle eppi, so I wouldn't go for that name myself.
  14. Anonymous Guest #15

Indeed, epo is also used here for gekkie/rare. And I heard someone in a completely different part of the Netherlands use it in the same way.
    I wouldn't do it myself.

    Eppo then, not Epo
  16. jane Guest #17

    Maybe Eppe or Epke?

Okay, I know a boy who was called Eppo. He got bullied a lot. It quickly turned into "Pippo" (the clown). So at age 14, he started using his second name. But that was Adriaan... So that was pretty sad.

No matter how much I like the name Eppo (seriously!), it's also used here in the sense of "what an Eppo!" (goofball, idiot), so I personally wouldn't choose that name.
