Philou or Hazel

We're really torn between Philou and Hazel.
We want a trendy name that you don't hear too often.
Not classic, but special and bold. Suggestions are welcome, including for middle names with these options.

I honestly can't choose either... I think both are beautiful! I'd probably go with Hazel because it's a bit more unique than Philou.

Pure practical reasons: Hazel. With Philou, I think you'll always have to spell out how the name is written.
Besides, I think Hazel is a name that fits all ages. Philou is also used as a term of endearment by some (like 'sweetie'. But I don't think it's a bad name Maybe Milou is an idea?

Rose and Lily, thank you for your replies.

We think Milou is a bit too common. I already know 3 of them!

Any suggestions for a second name to go with Hazel? (Or Philou?) ... I haven't decided yet unfortunately. ..

Am I the only one who doesn't think Hazel is a pretty name?
It really has to do with hazelnut..
But that's just my opinion, if you think it's a nice name, go for it!
I do like Philou! Philou Tess?

Definitely not the only one, Noella. It's just about your taste, right!
I think Tess is really too common; I already know four of them.
For that reason, I'm also hesitating about Philou. You hear it more and more these days.

    Philou as a second name,
    Hazel Philou

I also like Emely or Aimely or Emmely.

    Philou or Lilou.
I don’t think Hazel looks nice with a Dutch last name.

I find Philou terrible (just like Lilou), so then Hazel.

Not because I think it's beautiful myself, but just because I think it sounds nicer as a name for both a child and an adult.

I think Hazel is such a lovely name!

I don’t think Hazel is a nice name, but Philou is.

I find Hazel quite unique. I've always known it with the American pronunciation. In Dutch, it makes me think of Hazeltje, the rabbit from a cartoon from my childhood. And it sounds a bit cheeky and original.

And Philoe comes off as quite posh to me.
It's just about what kind of style you want your child to have
