Fertility
Poor sperm morphology - IUI
LilyGuest ·
Hi everyone,
My husband and I are starting our first IUI this month. It's incredibly nerve-wracking!
I'm really struggling to gauge our chances.
We're starting with IUI because after two years of trying without success, the tests revealed that my husband has less than 1% normal sperm morphology. The 'abnormal' part is in the head, which makes it almost impossible for the sperm to reach the egg.
The fertility specialist told us that for a couple without this issue, IUI success rates are around 30%, but for us, it would be lower. She couldn't (or wouldn't) give us a specific percentage. She did mention that due to this reason, they would switch to IVF/ICSI after 3, max 4 IUI attempts.
Are there other couples here with the same or similar issues? Or people with advice on IUI?
Success stories are always welcome too, that might help with the stress
