We actually had Milan picked out for our son for a few months, but I kept getting doubts because the name is SO popular. You really hear it everywhere... As someone who knows all too well how annoying it is to have two classmates with the same name, you stop being just "Milan" and become "Milan with the first letter of the last name," like Milan D, otherwise three Milans are turning their heads.
So in one week, a neighbor boy at the business park introduced himself; Milan. Then customers came with a baby; the boy's name was Milan. Then I was on Instagram and, believe it or not, I ended up on a general post where someone's 1-year-old daughter was named Milan Ava. Then I talked to someone about baby names, and they were also expecting a boy and had Milan as their number 1 choice. So in that week, I decided not to go with Milan. Don't let this sway you if you truly think it's the most beautiful name ever, but personally, I don't want it for my son. I always had friends, colleagues, or classmates with the same name, and sometimes not just one but several, and I never really liked that. So my partner said, if you come across a strong competitor, we'll drop it. After two months of name stress, we found that competitor, and now I'm so glad we didn't choose Milan, especially seeing this post again... so many people choosing Milan, but it's apparently an incredibly popular boy's name. Everyone thinks it's beautiful, that's for sure, but for my son, I wanted something a bit more unique.
