Hesitation about the name Loes

Hi everyone,
We're really struggling to choose a name for our daughter. It turned out we mostly liked names from the top 30, which made me feel like we were being too trend-sensitive. And the risk of our child ending up with two more 'Evi's' or 'Sara's' in class made us start looking for other names.
But it's so hard! For a long time, we had the name LOES in mind. I think it sounds really sweet. But now, after a few weeks, my partner wants to drop it. The dilemmas:
- It rhymes with too many things (risk of being teased)
- It's not too old-fashioned.
But now I feel like we're back at square one.. I don't see any better alternative either.. When I think of our little girl: blonde, Dutch, maybe even a bit freckled. Then Loes seems to fit her well.. but of course, I don't want her to constantly be rhymed on the schoolyard.

Do you recognize these dilemmas? Anyone have alternative ideas? We want it to sound sweet, not too long, not TOO trend-sensitive..

I personally also find Loes quite old-fashioned, and it rhymes with too many things... I had a girl in my class earlier who was often teased.
But it's of course your choice. I think, what if there are two Evies in the class? My child would still be separate from that, better than having them get bullied.
We've chosen a really unique name now, but if it had been a boy, we would have picked a name that's been popular lately. As long as we find the name beautiful.

My name is Loes and I have to say I'm happy with my name. I was never teased or bullied about it, even though there are some rhymes you could come up with. You can always find something to rhyme with any name if you want. I think it's a lovely name.
If you're looking for something a bit different, maybe Lize/Lise, Nienke, or Lieve?

If you want, you can rhyme with any name. I wouldn't take that into account either, if that's THE name.
Some other names that I think fit your description of your daughter: Mien, Lus, Kaat, Min, Sien, Lore, Hanne, Hanna, Anna...

I think Loes is a fine name. With nicknames like Zus, Luus, Keet, Fien, Kaat etc. in play, why would Loes be considered old-fashioned?
Rhyming is possible with most names (except maybe the ones that are nearly impossible to pronounce, in which case you might get teased for it).

I think it's totally fine. If it's THE name for you guys, go for it! And as already said: you can always come up with something that rhymes for any name. I wouldn't let that stop me. Other ideas: Loïs, Lola, Lieze/Lise, Liske, Lot, Roos, Jet, Juul, Jill, Gwen, Pleun

I think Loes is such a lovely name! And I think there's always something to tease about. If it's not a name, they'll look for something else.

Thanks for thinking with me. If someone else asked me, I’d say exactly the same thing.
But if she’s really bothered by it, I’d blame myself (stupid, right?)

My sister-in-law is named Loes and she was never bullied because of her name. Sometimes teased, but that can happen too if you wear glasses or have red hair. Kids will find something anyway. I think it's a really nice, lively name.

Are there no names in that top 30 that you'd actually prefer over Loes? I wouldn't let that hold you back and would just pick one of those names. In practice, there's at most one other kid with the same name in the class. They usually take that into account when assigning classes.
Do you prefer Loes over those top 30 names? Then go for it. Loes rhymes with "poes" (cat), but that's ultimately just a pet anyway.
