My husband finds the name awful.

Blije mama to be
Hi everyone,
My first post I'm 14 weeks pregnant and we're so happy! We've been thinking of baby names for years (we even had our cat for two months before giving him a name; it was just 'cat' at first), and the boy name isn't a problem. However, I'm convinced it's going to be a girl, so we need a beautiful name. I've been in love with the name Wies for a long time. My husband finds it awful. I'm trying to convince him and help him get used to it, but he just reacts more and more stupidly. He starts rhyming (vies, pies) and comes up with alternatives. They're okay, but not THE name. I'm really afraid I'll regret choosing another name. I only search for names in my free time, and I'm starting to dislike it. What a pity!
Do you have tips for names that are similar to or in the style of Wies? I love short names (1 or 2 syllables), Dutch-language names (my husband doesn't have a Dutch name and hates it when people mispronounce it or can't pronounce it at all), and something that's not too common. Hellup!
Love,
Happy mama-to-be

Well, it's your baby together, so you need to find a name you both like and not force a name down their throat haha

Possible options that I think fit in the same vein:
Saar, Roos, Loes, Lot, Juul, Fien, Jula, Kiki, Veere

    Maybe Wiep or Fiep?

At our place, the agreement was that we both had to really like the name. If there was any doubt, it wouldn't happen We both had names on our list that the other person really didn't like (or had certain associations with), so we both had to 'give up' on those. That's a bit sad, but after a while, we found THE name that we both liked. It's ultimately nicer if you both really stand behind it

    Some suggestions for you:
Mies, Lus, Min, Lies, Sien, Kaat, Riet, Sam, Mien, Toos...

You really need to pick a name that you both stand behind, otherwise it'll just cause friction. And you still have plenty of time. So get Wies out of your head.
    Maybe:
    Lize
    Liza
    Ize
    Isa
    Rivka

Tricky, right! I’ve got a boy’s name in mind that I’m totally in love with, but my husband just isn’t feeling it. And he’s only coming up with a few alternatives. So I keep saying: give it a chance! Try getting used to it! Haha!

It’s so hard to let go when you really love a name!

But everyone has a point, of course. You both need to be behind it.

With Wies, I’m thinking of names like Pip or Pomme or Cato. My daughter’s middle name is Jaantje, after my grandma. I still think it’s really sweet.
