Yuna or Juna

RicoGuest ·
My friend and I are totally into the name Yuna.
We just have big debates about whether it should be Yuna or Juna.
Personally, I think Yuna looks more beautiful and I feel like Juna would be pronounced and end up sounding like “djuna,” which isn’t the intention.

I think both are great. I'm not really a fan of the Y, but I understand your hesitation. Either way, it's a beautiful name!

    Hi,
How do you want to pronounce the name? As Juuna or Joena?

Both options work fine. If people insist on saying 'Djoena', just tell them you don't live in England.

I also immediately thought of 'djoena' when hearing Juna, so I'd go with Yuna. And what Gerben says about being able to claim you don't live in England is a bit of nonsense, of course, because there are really hundreds of names, surnames, objects, words etc. that are pronounced in their English way.. So I think if you're going to say that to people, you'll get back something like 'Well, your name is then Risso and not Rico (Rieko)'.. Maybe you could say that if you're called Gerben, but if you have anyone in your family or yourself who has a name that's pronounced in its English way, I'd leave that remark out haha. I also think Yuna is nicer.

    I agree with Gerben.
