Lots of kids? What do you think?

Hi ladies,
I was wondering what you all think about having more than 4 kids?
I've always wanted a big family; I come from a family of 4 myself... and I think 4 is a nice number, but my husband seems to think more than 6?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Love

Hi Jelena, we always wanted 3 or 4 kids, but now that we have 2 running around, we feel that's quite enough for now.
You can give all your attention to the first one, but with the second, that's already quite a bit less. We'll only think about having more kids again when we have all the time for them once more.

    Hi,
We always said 2 kids, but now I'm pregnant with the 3rd (which wasn't planned), but the desire was definitely there for not too long after:-D
I don't know, I'd like 4 too, but financially? Even bigger car, we'd really have to move to a bigger house... let alone with more than 6 ;-)
I have to say, it sounds pretty cozy though... But we're done with 3 kids :-)

    Hi hi!!
I come from an exceptionally large family: 12 in total!!
    The coziness is indescribable!!
I wouldn't have wanted it any other way!! (We were 8 girls!!)

But as Cin says: My parents had a large furniture store where we lived above,
    you also have to calculate:
Every ticket for an amusement park, cinema, ballet lessons, horse riding lessons... Multiply by 12!!!!
(Through religious beliefs, we luckily don't celebrate birthdays and Christmas and such..
But that was compensated with trips and what was mentioned above..)
If you can handle it financially and mentally (Think: one was still in diapers, the other in a rebellious teenage phase!!) I would definitely go for it!!

It's really a personal choice, but once it's like that, you can't go back..
I would have loved to have it too, if only my husband wasn't already 46..
It's a dream I had to give up..
The chances are high that it'll just be one for us
But on the other hand: I wouldn't even want to think about being alone with 6 kids if something happened to him..

    There are pros and cons,
but I can tell from experience, thanks to that, I had a fantastic childhood!!

I come from a family with 5 kids. I thought that was super, and still do!
I really enjoy having 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

I've already discussed it with my partner, and we'd like to have 2 kids. For my partner, 1 would be enough, but I think that's a bit few. I'd find it quite strange if our little one had no sister or brother.
The reason for not having more than 2 (probably) is my partner's opinion, but also financially for us. It doesn't seem so obvious anymore to have a really big family in these times. What's a shame!

To those who can, go ahead! You won't see me judging large families, but there are indeed people who find this irresponsible, pff, let them say it. Do what feels right for you and what you can handle mentally and financially!

Wow 12? It can't be anything but really cozy.
I find it very nice when my 2 brothers and sister visit, now that we are all adults..it's indescribable.
Of course financially it is indeed difficult with many children,,but I think you learn to live with it. If you think about how it was in the past... a lot of people had many children and those people had less back then than we have now in these times..and yet they made it, no one was hungry.
Of course you can offer 1 child more than when you have more children... but that extra love you get as mother and father and as sisters and brothers cannot be put into money, that is worth much more, than going on vacation once instead of 2x per year (this is just an example)... I see myself with more kids.. but now we're just having our third so it's still waiting and then I'll see how it will go further... hopefully so and so 4

On one hand, I also think, "Gosh, is it really financially sensible?" I do wonder about that sometimes. I'm a stay-at-home mom, my husband works, and we have an average income. I've brought this up with my husband, and he's like, "I'm not worried about the finances. There are plenty of people with large families who make ends meet. If necessary, I'll take a second job..." That's his take on it.

@assepoester Of course, you should take more children only after thinking it over carefully.
Pros = cons = time = finances and much more.

    You're absolutely right, Jelena:
I often hear people say, "wow, you can give 2 kids so much more than 6," but I totally disagree!!

We did have a relatively good life, mind you, but surprisingly we had a holiday cabin: a sort of garden shed where my dad had built 2 super big beds where we all slept together in sleeping bags, with a little fish pond nearby in the middle of nowhere,
just fields and woods, birds, frogs and mosquitoes!!
No electricity or water!! But we had a brother with a guitar, a campfire and marshmallows, paraffin lamps and candles!! And a sister with hay fever, Haha, wonderful times!!
I swear, my hair stands on end when I think back!!
When we went on holiday, it was always to a super cheap campsite with a small travel trailer and tents!!
We were just running away from all luxury, and I've learned one thing:
It doesn't matter to me where I live, how, under any circumstances at all,
as long as I have the people around me that I love!!
You automatically get that with a big family!

It sounds so lovely to have a big family, and it's definitely fun when they're older. I also find it nice that my parents each have three siblings, so I had lots of cousins to play with when I was little. But raising four or more kids myself... maybe with a bit longer gap between the second and third... but I think we'll stick with two.

It's nice to have a big family. I come from a family of 7 kids and I'm the youngest. It's all fine, but I think nowadays it would be financially difficult to manage so many children.
