    Hi Lola,

I haven't been sick myself, so I can't share any experience.
I definitely want to wish you both lots of get-well-soon wishes and good health,

    Kind regards, Dani

Oh, I just read another post and saw that you have medication that isn't harmful to your baby?
I think that coughing won't do much harm; your little one is safe in your belly and well protected.

If you're scared about the baby, I'd suggest getting a second opinion from the OB-GYN.

@lola, hey girl, yeah being sick isn't fun, especially not during pregnancy. I'm also recovering from the flu and had a sore throat; I tried to handle it at first but it just wouldn't go away, so I ended up having to take a course of antibiotics. I'm still on that for a few more days. If you're worried, get a second opinion. Take care of yourself! Love, Tammi

    Hi hi,

I’m currently recovering from a bladder and kidney infection. I spent a week in the hospital because I had severe pain, a fever of 40°C, and the baby’s heart rate was over 180.

In the hospital, I was on an IV drip to receive fluids (liters of them) and antibiotics. Sometimes you just have to push through to get better. Because if you get a fever, there’s a higher chance the baby will suffer from it too. I was told that the antibiotics aren’t harmful to the baby (they’re very careful about which ones they prescribe during pregnancy).

I don’t want to scare you at all, but I think a healthy body is better for the baby (and ultimately for yourself).

Wishing you a speedy recovery and strength! Keep us updated?

    Cheers,
    Anne

    Hey Lola

I’ve been in the hospital twice (like Anne) with a severe urinary tract infection and kidney inflammation, 39°C fever, chills, vomiting, passing out—the whole package.

I cried my eyes out out of fear that the antibiotics would harm my little one!!

I even initially refused some painkillers,

even though the pain in my kidney was unbearable!!

But I was told it was better to get rid of it right away than to have it hang around for the rest of my pregnancy..

It does feel scary, but sometimes you just have to!!

    Feel better soon, girl!!

    Hi Lola,

Great that you're feeling better! Being sick is so annoying, especially when you're pregnant. Everything just feels different than "normal."

As far as I know, they do the nuchal translucency scan between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy. I have no idea if it can be done earlier, but I don't think so. I had mine at 12 weeks, which apparently is the best week for it (that's what I was told).

    Excited about the second scan!

    Best wishes & good luck!
    Anne
