When will my period return after a miscarriage? When can I get pregnant again?

Hi everyone!
Had a miscarriage 23 days ago… and now I’ve been having bleeding for 17 days, so my period has probably started again! Super happy about that, of course.
Now my question.. do you also have such an incredibly heavy period after a miscarriage? I’m losing so much blood and it’s making me tired.
Normally I have heavy bleeding for 2/3 days, but now it’s been 4 days and tomorrow will be the 5th.. I also had brown discharge for a week before that.
My tests are all negative now, so that means I can get pregnant again right after my period, right?
Thanks for responding!
Greetings, Daisy

    Hi Daisy,
So sad that you're going through this too
Are you sure your uterus is completely clear? After my first miscarriage in December, I lost the baby in mid-December, but a few days later I started bleeding again. Turns out it wasn't clean enough unfortunately, and I had a D&C on 28-12. My period came back in mid-January, and my gynecologist had already warned me that it could be a heavy one, and it was. And I got pregnant right away.

After the second miscarriage in mid-March, it took a really long time for my cycle to get going again, and then I had occasional brown spotting in between but no proper period.

    Hang in there!

    Hi Molly!
Wow, did you have 2 miscarriages then? That’s intense, seriously strength!!!
After I lost the baby, I had an internal ultrasound and everything was clean and my uterine lining was already almost back to normal after a period... then I started losing brown blood after 15 days and after 17 days it was really red and now it’s day 22 and it’s really a heavy period. Pff, can’t wait for it to be over haha!
Did you get pregnant right away after that heavy period? And how many weeks apart were they for you?
    Love

    Yeah, unfortunately yes
We're in a little group with a few other girls waiting for the 1st scan after the NT scan (or something like that ), otherwise you could join us for a bit?
Glad it was clear, that's definitely something and another step in the right direction.
Yeah, Jan 13th was immediately the first day of the last cycle. I understand you'd like it to be over, you want to move on.
    How far along were you?

I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks... really sad.

Now almost due for my period, but I do have some pressure in my groin. Is it possible to ovulate and still be on your period? Hmm? Weird, right? Haha!

So my last period was January 13th and then immediately pregnant?

    Love,

Hmm, no right? Did you do an ovulation test as a joke?
Yeah, that half of January was then the 1st day of the last cycle, half of March was again a miss, around 8 weeks. I've already had tests done, but for now we fall into the thick, fat luck category Last week we did start a chromosome test, the result takes about 3 months. More just to be able to cross this off the list too, often nothing comes out of it anyway.
Your body can indeed do strange things

Oh that's so sad Molly! Sounds really tough. No one deserves that! Ugh!
Yes, the test isn't clear, but since I also have PCOS, I've never really had a clear ovulation test, so I stopped using them. But this month I thought I'd try again, and it's only positive if it's almost as thick as the control line, right?
Pfff, I still have brown discharge, so I find it too gross to have sex haha, not for me. Did you have that? I'm on day 7 of my cycle now, so that's pretty long. Intense!
    How are you doing otherwise?
  7. Molly #8

Oh, that's tough too... Are you taking progesterone for this or not?
In January I also had an early egg, on day 11 the ovulation test was positive. According to me, in my photos you can see mine from last Saturday afternoon, that was a good line After the 2nd mc it took so long before everything was normal again, my body probably needed the time, but that was tough though. Now I'm back on the waiting bench, and I really have no idea, we're going to wait "calmly"

Yeah, really annoying. I'm seeing a gynecologist and was supposed to start Clomid last month, but then I turned out to be pregnant... super unexpected.

I want to wait a bit this month and otherwise call in early July to get referred to the clinic to start taking Clomid after all.

Wow, indeed, the test is super positive! Unbelievable. Hope I get that too haha.

Were you on day 11 when you got the positive test? Were you still having your period, had brown discharge, or nothing at all?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm curious haha! I'm rooting for you!!!!
  9. Molly #10

Oh, that was a surprise then So T is possible, even though it went so badly for you guys
Did you already take Clomid before?
No (I think), it was really intense for about 5/6 days, I wondered where it all came from, because I had a curettage 2 weeks prior. Thumbs up for you that it works out again and that you'll have a beautiful little one

Wow, what a surprise! Yes, it's really tough for you too! I really hope this time it works out and everything goes well!

No, I've never swallowed anything, though I've heard some pretty intense stories. But hey, I'm willing to do whatever it takes, so if that's needed, I'll do it haha!

So you were kind of like me—got your period 2 weeks after the curettage, and it was intense... I got my period 2 weeks after the miscarriage, and it was intense too! I have a short cycle, but it's super irregular. Are you too?
  11. Molly #12

That’s quite exciting, then, to start taking it! I wasn’t exactly enjoying the pregnancy hormones either, ahem My partner had to take a bit more from me than usual, which was a bit tough at first (for both of us).

Yes, your cycles do seem to look a lot like mine were in January!

Normally quite regular, but after the second D&C it was all over the place – constant brown discharge, then more blood for a few hours, then nothing for days, and that went on for about 9 weeks. Couldn’t find any ovulation, so I was already planning to go to the doctor, because I was completely fed up But then I got my period normally again last month, and found an egg, but that cycle didn’t work out. This month, with day 12/13, the OPK test is positive. So luckily, things have returned to normal again.

It sounds really tough to always be so irregular. Good that you went to the doctor, that already gives some relief. Maybe that’s why it worked out the month before you went to see the doctor

I always feel like the time between ovulation and your period lasts forever
