Am I pregnant?

Sarah
My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant again for the first time this month. He's 43 and I'm 35.
I've been feeling a bit nauseous since Monday. This morning I took an early pregnancy test from Kruidvat. There was a very, very faint positive line visible. This afternoon I went to get a more sensitive test, and there was also a faint line here. Normally, my period isn't due until Sunday. Could I be pregnant that quickly? What do you all think?

Anyone? Because I'm going a bit crazy here...

Honestly, I’d wait until AFTER your period to test again.
" About 60% of fertilizations end in an early miscarriage. You test positive, but then get your period a few days later anyway."

    To avoid disappointment.

I don't think she's asking if everything will keep going well if she tests so early.
Anything can go wrong in a pregnancy...
You tested positive with 2 different tests. So my answer to your question, Sarah: yes, they are positive. And it can definitely happen after the first cycle. I tested positive 6 days before my expected period and gave birth 5 days ago... I wish you the same... greetings

Well, well Stef, she asked what we think, I said what I thought... so yeah.
You answer her first question, I answer her second question. Both of us have the right to answer, right?

These are indeed positive, though. I always tested before my period too. Unfortunately, it can still go wrong after your period. I don't really see the difference myself. I tested 4/5 days before my period this round and they really got darker every day. Well done, Sarah! I hope everything goes well.

A miscarriage after a positive NIPT result isn't as common as before. Before, it was around 60%. There's even a whole "don't test NIPT before your due date" movement, simply because it's quite common for the pregnancy to not continue despite a positive result. In the past, you'd just find out if you were pregnant or not and then take a test once...and there's a reason for that.

Sorry, it's just hard to be happy when you read that someone on this forum had the same thing but still got their period. My apologies.

Mja ok tooby that's definitely true, you've made your point now...it's really nice when you think you're pregnant and someone keeps going on about miscarriages...I've already done the test so yeah...I'm already aware that a lot can go wrong in the first 12 weeks anyway.

I do keep in mind that if I test again tomorrow or the day after, the result might be different... I was quite emotional this afternoon when I took the test. Never thought he could be positive... I'm 35, you know, which means only a 12% chance per month of getting pregnant. So I never expected it to work out on the first try.

    Sarah, I offered my apologies..

I think everyone should follow their own feelings. I found it helpful that I knew I was pregnant during my early miscarriage. Since I only bled for one day and my whole cycle was longer, at least you know what caused it. Plus, I tested positive for weeks after the missed period.
And I was already 38 when I stopped the pill (now 39), and it took in the third round. That was the missed period. Then in the fourth round, it happened again. So age doesn't always tell the whole story.

Congratulations Sarah!! Your body knows how to get pregnant!! Now it's an exciting time.. but that's the case for everyone.. try to enjoy it..
Ps. I also tested positive earlier.. 4 days before my period

Today a clear and unmistakable positive test. Tuesday, getting blood drawn????????
  14. Moedertjuh #15

Congratulations! You don't need a blood test for that, do you? If your tests are positive and getting stronger, you're pregnant, you know.

Well, I guess I'll go ahead... get tested for vitamins, toxoplasmosis, and all that stuff...
  16. Moedertjuh #17

They do that at the midwife's too, with an extended blood test. They never tested me for toxoplasmosis...and I have a cat. They didn't think it was necessary.
