Pregnant?

It’s possible that the hormones from the IUD are just too weak for you. I wouldn’t get another IUD if I were you—it’s dangerous for the baby if you still get pregnant easily.

I assume it’s unexpected, but welcome?

    hi tooby,

I think you're right about that. I did get my period last week, but I can clearly feel my IUD (I can feel the threads already with just half a finger inserted - I know, gross).

The baby is very unexpected (again), but welcome. I'm engaged and we already knew we wanted kids together (later on).

Off to the doctor quickly then, to make sure the IUD can be safely removed. Good luck!

I will, thanks for your quick replies.

I'm just wondering if there are any girls who can relate to the above. And... are there any girls who got a false positive result in a similar situation? Because I just can't believe this is happening to me twice in 5 months.....

My former neighbor also had a Mirena and suddenly got pregnant, that must have been quite a shock.
Wishing you lots of luck for now.. and a false positive result almost never happens.. I haven't heard of it anyway xx

I was able to come in right away today for an ultrasound, also to check if the IUD was in place. It was, and she couldn't see anything on the internal scan. Just to be safe, they took a blood sample tomorrow morning, but it really looks like it's a false negative test.

I keep hearing more and more that the IUD doesn't always work out... It's always a hassle, being a woman.. haha.

    False positive test*

The fear of getting pregnant with an IUD is one of the reasons why I had it removed.
    Fortunately, everything looked good!

What contraception are you using now, if I may ask? The pill didn't agree with me either (period for 3 weeks, then only a week off...)

I'm not using anything right now, but if I were to use something, it would be a condom and try to minimize activity around ovulation.
