Yesterday morning, our dear niece was born, and she got the name Olivia. Beautiful name, and super nice that she’s finally here! But we also had Olivia in mind for our girl, who is due in about 7 weeks....
It was already clear from day 1 that if it was going to be Olivia. And we didn’t really have any other names because we thought it was such a lovely name. She also doesn’t have a middle name that we could give her as an alternative.

Do you know any names that fit the style of Olivia? We’ve really lost track.

Oh my goodness, that sounds absolutely terrible! Something similar is also difficult. Maybe something like: Ruby, Lily, Elouisa?

I think Aniéla is really beautiful, maybe that's the one.

Thanks! Elouisa "Lo" might still be an option, I'll suggest it to my partner. We both also really like Lily but that's the name of Olivia's sister. And Ruby isn't really my style.

Never heard of it. How do you pronounce it? As Aa-nie-jee-laa?

Oh, what a shame that they had the same name in mind. Possible alternatives:
    Sophia/Sofia, Odiel, Liv, Liva

Or completely different options: Charlotte, Eveline, Annemiek, Danique/Daniek, Sarah, Lize/Elize, Elianne, Marlyze, Steffy, Lindy, Jody, Suze, Fiene, Nova, Lizzy.

Hopefully, this gives you some inspiration. Sophia seems to fit best with Olivia!

I thought Minthe was such a beautiful name for a girl, but we're having a tough little guy haha!

Why don't you just go with Olivia if that's really your name!!
Liva is also nice or Loïs. We're calling our daughter Faye if it's a girl.

You pronounce it as an-jela (or an(i)jela), the i is pronounced a bit quickly. I find it hard to explain.

That's so annoying! I'd also go for a different name myself (if you guys have fairly to frequent contact, definitely. If you only see your relatives once a year, I'd leave it as is!)
Maybe Cecilia/Caecilia is a bit more? Or Cécile? Maxime or Josephine? Ellenoor or Ellemae? Rozemarijn?
  15. Anonymous Guest #16

We see them almost every day, so Olivia can't be the name anymore, unfortunately.

Thank you! I think Bella and Stella are quite nice, but my husband doesn't like them at all. As for the rest, I find them a bit too flashy or special (Bruna, Magali, etc.). But thanks for thinking along!
  17. Anonymous Guest #18

My sister's name is Vita. So that's out too.
  18. Anonymous Guest #19

I also think Amélie is fantastic, but that’s the name of my very good friend’s daughter.
I like Phileine too, but I’ve read online a few times that it means vagina?

    Thanks for thinking along!

That's so sad for you guys!
Is Liva or Lieve still an option? Or do you think that's totally out of the question?
