I initially read 'Luis' as that annoying little creature. But it's a really nice name, all the other variants are totally great.

We think Luis is nice, but I'm indeed afraid it will be misread.
Louis, on the other hand, I think would be pronounced in French (which we don't want).
    And Lewis is too English

How do you want to pronounce the name? That way we can help you better.

Luis is a bit of a nasty little beast and sounds negative. Same goes for the version Luís.

Louis is the most common one, pronounced in the French way Lou-ie(s).

Lewis is an English surname, so I'd never choose that. If you want a different pronunciation, go with Luiz. Do you really want to pronounce it like "luis"? I wouldn't do that.

I'm really curious which pronunciation you'd prefer.

The pronunciation is like in Spanish, Luis, so not like the animal.
In the end, we decided to go with a different name to avoid negative reactions later.
