Frustrations and uncertainties

Dear people,

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a year now, but it just wasn't working out. Eventually, our GP referred us for fertility testing. My husband's results were all fine, but I turned out to have a heart-shaped uterus. However, the doctor said this shouldn't affect my ability to get pregnant.

This month, I've had very tender breasts (which happens to me more often as my period approaches), but now I'm also feeling a lot of rumbling in my belly. I've also started eating better. I'm noticing smells more strongly, experiencing mood swings, and feeling very emotional. On the one hand, I'm really hoping for a miracle, but the symptoms vary from day to day, which makes me feel very unsure.

I took an ovulation test 7 days before my expected period, and it was positive (urban legend?). So, based on that result, I took a pregnancy test 6 days before my expected period, and it was negative. I know it's actually too early to test, so I'm really doubting myself and trying not to stress or overthink (which is pretty hard with mood swings).

Does anyone have tips? Advice? Personal experience? It would really help me a lot!

The only tip I can give is to wait until you feel the urge to push. You can't really influence it anyway. How frustrating it may be, it will happen or it won't.

I agree with Anoniem! I understand your frustration and uncertainty, because I’ve been there myself And all that testing and paying attention to symptoms is so relatable. But all that testing is pointless. You’re either pregnant or not, so just test when you need to know, then you’ll also know whether it’s a sticky one or not. And I always comforted myself with the thought that a test is only about ME knowing whether I’m pregnant or not—it doesn’t determine if I’m pregnant, because nature does that, now or not. So you’ll find out naturally when you need to know. By the way, I got pregnant in a cycle where we didn’t even have sex around my ovulation (measured with ovulation tests). I had 0.0 symptoms (at first) even though in the months before I sometimes really thought: now everything’s different!! And yet, I turned out to be pregnant right then... you can’t control it. Take it easy, have trust, and test again later It sounds easier than it is, I know, but it’s better.
