Who knows the difference between a follicle or gestational sac on the ultrasound?

Who oh who knows the difference between a follicle or gestational sac on the ultrasound?
My midwife told me during an ultrasound last Wednesday at 8:15 PM that I have a 14mm follicle that would rupture in a few days, releasing the egg, and then within a week.
Now someone from the NOD forum said it could also be two gestational sacs...
I'm a layperson in this area, I've searched a bit on the internet but to me it all looks the same hahaha.
Who oh who knows the difference then?

Unfortunately, no studies have been done to analyze this.
I guess it also depends a lot on "where" it is located. But I'm hoping for you that it's not a follicle anymore... but the other thing .

    Hi Trees, good evening!
Yeah hahaha pity for me, no studies to look at this.
Yeah I also thought where exactly is it but I don't know. Well I do see a line between those two little balls and my uterus which isn't there. Or does it look like that? And shouldn't you see an ovary somehow because it's right next to it or is it inside it.........yeah I don't know. Will call the GP on Monday.

It does seem like it's follicles after all, otherwise those two little balls would be in the uterus. Lower down then?

I'd really like to reply... but I don't see any ovaries or a uterus in the photo .

Your question is who knows the difference. The answer is your midwife who studied for it.
You don't know who that person on the internet is or what kind of education they have. It's likely just a layperson who can't read ultrasounds but is just talking nonsense.
A follicle is in your ovary and a gestational sac should be in your uterus. I can't read ultrasounds myself, but I know that in my pregnancies there was a large black area visible on the ultrasound where the shape of my babies could be seen. I don't see that in yours, so I'm going by what your midwife said.

They look like my follicle scans at the fertility clinic...

I don't think it looks like either of those, haha. I don't recognize the location/environment as a uterus or ovary. Now you're saying this ultrasound was done by your midwife, and those aren't sonographers trained specifically about follicles, I assume. I don't know for sure. Also, the equipment at VK's is different from that of fertility clinics.

If I were you, I'd contact your GP for a referral to a gynecologist or get back in touch with that midwife. If the little bubbles are gone, you'll know if they were indeed follicles.

Hi Crumb, I thought so too and even told my husband.
But I already had a faint line on the Kruidvat test on 2w5d yesterday, and this morning it was clearer with the second test.
    See photo.
I think I had the first faint line yesterday at 6 dpo (which is ridiculously early......) and now it's darker a day later.

Thank you both for your responses, Leeuwtje and Anoniem.

It's all so strange. Honestly, I wouldn't assume they're gestational sacs.
If they were gestational sacs, a pregnancy test should be much more positive, because in the early stages of pregnancy when tests show such faint lines, a gestational sac isn't visible yet. Do you see what I mean?

Yes, indeed, it's too light for that.
