Which Italian names do you think are beautiful and also suitable for a girl growing up in the Netherlands? We are Italian and think you can best judge how Dutch people would perceive these names.

Nera. Easy to pronounce. Otherwise Ciane.
Dutch people also know Viola in connection with Viola Holt, but it sounds a bit old-fashioned.
Luana is a bit reminiscent of the royal family. The youngest daughter of the late Prince Friso.
Evole, I think, isn't really understood in the Netherlands.

I think Luana is pretty. Evole, I don't know, but somehow I don't feel it. Ciane is nice on its own, but still feels weird. I wonder if I'm even pronouncing it right. And thanks for mentioning that many people thought Diane was too common.
I don't find Nera that beautiful. Viola is a regular name, but not really of this time. Although then again, you have a name that definitely doesn't appear everywhere.
Claudia, by the way, I also find a beautiful, timeless, normal name that's not very common anymore.

I agree with the above, and honestly, I don't find any of them really beautiful or fitting. I think Chiara, Giulia, Sienna, Bella, Rosella, Mirabella, and Fiore are beautiful Italian names that also fit well in the Netherlands these days.

Chiara is mentioned above, but it’s always pronounced in the Dutch way, not the Italian way. I can imagine that’s really annoying.
I think the same goes for Ciane. Most people will probably pronounce it as Kie-a-ne.
    Luana isn’t really my thing.
    Nera is easy to pronounce.
We don’t know Evole here, but I think it’s a beautiful name. I’d choose that one.
And I also don’t think Viola is very modern.

Oh... The choice is getting harder...
    We're still really hesitating.
I think you're thinking about the right things. Like, for example, Luana appearing in the royal family; we hadn't thought of that. We have both Dutch and Italian family, but we've lived in Italy for over 20 years, so we're not that up-to-date on all the developments in the Netherlands.
    Thanks so far!
More reactions are welcome because the decision hasn't been made yet....

I think you don't really need to worry about the Dutch countess when it comes to the name Luana. Most Dutch people will understand that Luana is a perfectly normal name for Italians.

Besides, Countess Luana is quite out of the picture: she's not a member of the Royal Family (just like her parents weren't anymore) and she doesn't live in the Netherlands either.

I think Nera is really beautiful. It's easy to pronounce and has a smooth feel to it.

I didn't think about the royal family at all when I heard Luana. Just a nice name.

I secretly think Evole is really beautiful....
It might not be a well-known name in the Netherlands, but it sounds gorgeous and the spelling is logical.
Especially when paired with an Italian surname, it will look stunning.
