Names?!

Hi ladies,
Dilemma: after having 2 boys, we're now expecting a girl. With the 2 boys, we always had Louisa as the girl's name. But now someone in our friend group has a boy and they call him Louis.
We're really torn about whether to go with the name Louisa. What would you do?
Other suggestions are welcome. It should fit with the name Kimberley (this will be the baptismal name) and with the 2 boys Rick (Hendrik) and Joël (Philippus Hendrik Joël).

Louisa works fine if you already had that name in mind. I don't think a name from the boy's friend group needs to have an immediate influence on that.

But in case you want other options, here are my ideas...

    Lizeia
    Cécile
    Alessia
    Lavelle
    Eloï
    Loalis
    Viola
    Aloïse
    Luana
    Esloë
    Liselle

I think Louisa works pretty well in these circumstances too.

As far as I'm concerned, the name Louisa is totally fine!
It's actually nice that the friend's kid isn't a girl, otherwise their child might have had the exact same name as your future daughter!

I still have a list of names for you that fit nicely with the vibe of Louisa.

    Lovia
    Elisa
    Levine
    Liliane
    Aveline
    Lealis
    Limare
    Oleance
    Liselle
    Valeia
    Luciane
    Amélie
    Lisea
    Aiolin
    Suelle

It depends on how you pronounce Louis. If you say it like "Loewie(s)," I'll just say go for it! But if you pronounce it like "Loo-ies," I'll have a little chat with Louis's parents to ask what they think.

I assume you pronounce Louisa like "Loowiesaa."

    No, never ever do that...
Don't ask what your friends think!
Your child's name is your private choice and others shouldn't have a say in it.
If you discuss it beforehand, people will always have something to say.
Make the decision together as parents and only share it with people around you at birth.
Then it's a done deal and others just have to accept it.
It's about your child, after all!!

Louisa is beautiful... just go for it if you want to!
A friend's child is nice, but not so important that it should influence the name choice for your own child. Those kids will have their own friends later on, so it doesn't matter at all... really.
I'd actually feel sad if my parents had decided not to give me a beautiful name for that reason. Because I won't keep in touch with that acquaintance's kid for the rest of my adult life anyway. And then I'd rather have had my parents give me the most beautiful name they could find.

By the way, I also think the names Rosalie and Elena mentioned above are beautiful.
Especially Lizeia, Alessia, Liselle, Aiolin, Lovia and Suelle.

Girls, thank you so much for your responses.
We're sticking with the name Louisa.
If we had our first child as a girl, they probably would have just gone with Louis anyway.

And like Celine already said, I'm not going to discuss it with the parents, because then I know for sure that within no time the rest of the friend group and beyond will also know.

Super good! Just go with your own gut feeling. It's your child, and the most important thing is that you're happy with the name.
