I'm hesitating because a direct colleague has a daughter with that name... I think it's a tough name! I'd love to hear other suggestions that are also tough for a girl...

Fay is really nice, Nikki I find nice until they're about ten years old.

I personally think Fay sounds nicer than Nikki.

Indeed, I agree with you. I prefer names that sound more like traditional children's names. Nikki doesn't sound very special, while Fay does.

Fay means ugly in a lot of countries, for example in Cape Verdean. You also pronounce it that way.

Fay. Milli is indeed nice when they're little.

Mean Nikki instead of Milli. That spellchecker too.

From Nikki you could make Nicolet and then use Nikki as a nickname until she's a bit older...

Isn't Nikita more of a thing instead of Nikki? And Fay sounds too fairy-tale-ish to me, but if you like that, I think Nikita sounds more girly than Nikki.

I'll go with Nikki, Fay, you hear more about her.

I think Nikki is actually a nice name for a little girl, but when she gets older I'm afraid it would be shortened to Nik, and that sounds so boyish. I like Fay better, although it's not really my taste either, but it has my preference over Nikki because it sounds more feminine. At least more girly than Nikki. Anyway, for a toddler it sounds cute, but when she gets older and it gets shortened to Nik, I think it's a boy's name, and that would be a pity. But that's just my personal opinion. Good luck with your baby. Love, Lotte
