Testing?? Huge confusion

Good afternoon lovely ladies,
I'm Lis (37) and I'm already a mom to 2 great teenage boys (15 and 13) and currently with my current boyfriend, father of a beautiful 7-year-old daughter, trying for a little miracle.
But for me, this is the first time I'm actually consciously dealing with it, and that my boyfriend and I are consciously choosing this together. Here comes my dilemma;
Since I'm not the youngest anymore, I've been tracking my cycle with ovulation tests after having a Mirena IUD removed. My cycle went straight back to schedule (28 days) and the ovulation tests perfectly indicated the LH peaks. Also, negative 3 days after ovulation. Given that I've already had 3 pregnancies (1 miscarriage), I have a feeling it worked around March 8th, because I also feel a bit weird. (hard to explain). I still had a box of ovulation tests lying around so I thought I'd try to test my cycle for a whole month. Started testing around March 13th. Faint line after the control line. This stayed like that for a few days, until I got bleeding on March 18th, a real period, (4 days before my expected period), I wanted to know what the test was indicating now. After March 18th, I've now had a full positive ovulation test for 4 days in a row. Same time every day and both lines appear fully before the time is up. But yesterday (March 20) I did a pregnancy test and it was negative. All very confusing!! Either I have so many eggs ready to pop but that seems unlikely.......... Oh, the period only lasted 2 days. It was over last night. Who recognizes this??

    Get cozy and busy over there too! It's pretty similar here. I have a son who's almost 15 and a daughter who just turned 12. My partner has an 8-year-old daughter. And now I'm pregnant with a baby of ours together. Had an early miscarriage in late November, but the next time... it took a while for my ovulation to kick in... then boom, pregnant again.
    By the way, I'm 39 now.
    I get your confusion... I used to be on the pill so I had no experience with the IUD. I do know that ovulation tests also react to HCG. I tested with those this cycle. I also had a lot of ovulation tests left over, so I tested simultaneously with the pregnancy tests. The ovulation test turned positive earlier than the pregnancy test. But then you could already see a faint line on the pregnancy test. I'd just keep testing with the ovulation tests anyway, and if you're unsure, do a pregnancy test every now and then. Good luck! And it can happen pretty quickly despite your age. I was pregnant in cycle 3... unfortunately, that turned out to be a miscarriage... and then again in cycle 4.

    Hi Clautjuh,
    Wow! What a coincidence, indeed quite busy and cozy here too. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I wore the Mirena coil for 10 years without any problems and didn't have a period during those 10 years, so getting used to those discomforts again was quite a adjustment... but my cycle was back on schedule immediately and even ovulated just 3 days after removal. I feel everything, but I do find it quite confusing with the ovulation tests, especially since they show a stronger positive than during the LH peaks... we decided together to just wait and see if the cycle continues in 4 weeks... during my pregnancies with my sons, I also got my period in between, earlier than usual, and 5 weeks later I found out I was overdue... resulting in being over 2 months pregnant and quite unexpectedly. Now it's fully conscious, which makes it all very nerve-wracking. Anyway, fingers crossed and hoping we can embrace a little miracle soon.

    Yeah, a cycle like that can kick back in pretty quickly... that was my experience too. But it's definitely a bit confusing at first. Still, you'll eventually get some clarity. It just sometimes takes a little while.
