I was due in July for a girl. It’s still a while away, but they’re already busy with the name. We’ve pretty much agreed that it will be Limée or Lymée (pronounced: Liemee), but we’re still hesitating about which spelling to choose. I know many people associate Lymée with Lyme disease. The spelling is almost the same, but the pronunciation isn’t. We think it looks a bit more chic with a Y. However, it holds us back a bit because people might only think of the disease when they see that spelling. On the other hand, there are many names that resemble something else or have associations. I’d love to hear your opinion on which one you find prettiest.
-Lymée
-Limée
And what do you think of this name?

Limée! I do indeed have that association with Lymée

Limée, I think that's prettier and more chic.

    Nice name, but then Limée.
  4. Agnes Guest #5

Definitely, Lymée! You really don’t want to be associated with Lyme disease.

Oops... I actually mean Limée for sure!

With a y it reminds me of Lyme. With an i it reminds me of lime = lemon. I'd go for the y version.

I read the names and I didn’t think at all about Lyme disease. If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have thought of it at all. You guys should choose what you think looks best. It’s your daughter, not someone else’s.

Thanks for your reply. We didn't initially think of that ourselves; it was just because people said it. I know Imre Stiekema's daughter is also called Lymée, and there are a few more with that spelling. And whether it's pronounced with an I or a Y, the pronunciation stays the same—it's purely about the spelling, haha. There are other names that remind you of something similar too. But it's certainly not a very nice association.

Haha lime Didn't even think of that. That way you have a lot of names that resemble something else.

Hi, I'd love your opinion. I'm due in August and would like to name my baby Hazel, but pronounced exactly like it's spelled in Dutch. However, when I look it up, it seems customary to pronounce it the English way (Heezel), which I don't really like.

Nice name! I'd go with the version that you both feel most comfortable with. Everyone has their own opinion, but it's about what you think looks nice. I totally get your hesitation. By the way, I actually like both spellings. I can't really choose haha.

Thank you! No, I can't choose either haha, I like both spellings. We do want two names because we gave our son two names. We're thinking of Lymée Aileen (ai-lien in English) or Limée Aileen, haha.

Personally I think Limée looks nicer!

Thank you! I still find it so hard to choose between Lymée and Limée haha.
