Nervous for baby #3, anyone else?

Hi girls,

The title says it all hihi, I've actually had the itch for a third baby since the birth of my second son. My oldest is 2.5 and the youngest is 6 months now. I think my itch is bigger than my husband's, but he definitely wants a third child too, if it's meant to be for us. Who else had that right after giving birth? And when did you go for the third? What's the age gap? I'm thinking of the same age gap between the first and second, even though you don't really have full control over that. What do moms of 3 experience as the difference between having 2 and 3 kids? Hihi, lots of questions but I'm really curious.

Love

I do, but unfortunately my husband doesn't.

    Hi Ruby,

That's really unfortunate that your husband isn't open to it. Are you having a lot of heartburn?
Anyone else who has experience with this?

    Hi,
We already have two kids, a daughter who's 5 (born 28/11/2012) and a son who's almost 2 (born 11/04/2016). I had my IUD removed last June, and we're hoping for a third baby soon. Unfortunately, on 12/12/2017, I had a D&C after the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks (I was almost 9 weeks pregnant at the time of the procedure).

So the excitement is definitely there!

Oh, how exciting! I also had a miscarriage at 9 weeks between my first and second child. It really puts you back on solid ground, reminding you that it's not all taken for granted. I hope to be pregnant again when my youngest is about six months old. But as I said, it has to be given to us. Did you start getting busy right away, or do you want to wait a bit?

    Hey mom,
I'm still waiting for my first period. I know I ovulated on Jan 24/25, and had a check-up with the gyn on Jan 22 who could tell me that a follicle was about to pop, so I used ovulation tests I had lying around to see if it matched. Got a positive test on Jan 24, but it wasn't followed by a period or a positive pregnancy test. Had to go back to the gyn last Thursday because my period was missing; she could see a very nice thickened uterine lining but still wanted me to get my blood values checked. On Friday I was allowed to call for the result and it showed that I had a new ovulation, but she couldn't say when. Now I have to wait until March 16 to see if I get my period. If I haven't got it by next Friday, I have to go back for a check-up because my body might have ended up in some kind of menopause. So it's wait-and-see for now, but we hope to be pregnant again soon, who knows maybe I'm already pregnant without knowing it, but I don't assume that because it would just drive me crazy. I just want (no matter how crazy everyone will think I am) to get my period so I know everything is okay again.

Well, I don’t think it’s weird at all that you’d like to get your period now. It’s kind of like confirmation that everything’s back on track. I felt the same way after my miscarriage. I hope you get pregnant again soon!

Hey, we're also going for a third baby! We already have an 8-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter, so now we're in round 3.

Exciting!! I hope it happens quickly for you both! Did you have any doubts about whether to have a third child or not? Or did you consciously choose a certain age gap (though you don't always have the final say)? From what I can see, the age gap between your oldest and the next one is the same as with my kids.

    Hi,
I've had another check-up with the OB-GYN. I had 1.5 days of bleeding (spread over 2 days: first a full day, then 1.5 days of nothing, then another 0.5 days of bleeding). Since I didn't trust it, I had blood tests done and went back to the OB-GYN the next day. My blood values were good, and my hormone levels were at a point you'd expect right after a period. The ultrasound showed that my uterus was at the same stage, and even my OB-GYN couldn't explain why there was so little bleeding.
So now we can take action again and hope for a third baby soon.

Actually, I always said after the second that it was enough, we have a boy and a girl, so why a third? We both work full-time, plus my husband is always gone around 5 am.
So getting the kids ready and getting them to school is mostly for me, and picking them up in the evening is also mostly for me.
Two years ago, I had a weak moment where I wanted a third, but my husband wasn't keen on that then.
Now, in January, I got pregnant unexpectedly. And surprisingly, I was afraid of my husband's reaction, but he really wanted this now, much to my surprise. But it wasn't meant to be, and it ended at 5 weeks.
He wanted to try again right away, but so far, it hasn't worked.
And I think he's more open to it now because the kids are already 8 and 6 years old.

Mamske, my first period after my miscarriage was also different from what I was used to. I had some old blood for a day or two, and it didn’t switch to clear, normal blood like it usually does. Still, that was my period, and the next month I was pregnant again! I hope it goes just as quickly for you too, and that you get to be pregnant right away. Good luck with that, hihi.

Oh my, Tinkerbel, you really see how an event can suddenly make you think completely differently about something. In this case, regarding your husband. I have two boys myself, and if the third one is a girl, that’s nice, but a boy would be just as welcome. Even though I always preferred having a girl before my oldest was born. I wonder if the cravings after a third child, if we’re blessed with one, will fade. Haha. Or if we’ll start talking about a fourth again. My youngest is 7 months old, so I’m definitely waiting until the end of this year before stopping the pill anyway.

    hey ladies
it's finally here today, I've had a few days of light tests and had blood drawn yesterday
the result is hcg just under 60 so I'm pregnant with our 3rd little one

Thank you, and actually it's really good so far. I've had little to no complaints up until now, just some morning nausea with occasional waves, but nothing more.

Oh, that's nice! And yeah, I noticed it with my second one too—you're less focused on your pregnancy because you have a family to distract you. When do you have your first ultrasound?

    Hooooi!!

We're going for a 3rd baby too! We have 2 daughters (3 years and 1.5 years) from December 2014 and August 2016. Both girls were conceived with help; I can't get pregnant naturally due to PCOS.
I would have preferred a smaller age gap between #2 and #3, but since I lost my job late last year, we put it on hold. On April 26th, we have our first appointment with the fertility specialist, and I hope to get my medication right away so we can start. I'm really dreading it, but I'm also very excited!

    Mom
haven't called yet, I'm going to get a blood test done again on Tuesday to see if the hcg is rising properly, and if it is, then I'll call
feeling a bit unsure because of the miscarriage in January at 5 weeks
  18. MamaN started this #19

Yeah, I understand that... I was pretty much insecure throughout the whole pregnancy with my second because things had gone wrong before. But still, you can let go a bit now and then to enjoy it, because we don't have control over it ourselves. Here's to a first good ultrasound that hopefully puts your mind at ease!

    Hey ladies,

How are you all doing? I see you're all pregnant to the hilt, hihi. I have to admit I'm a little jealous!! I'd really like to stop taking the pill after next month. My husband isn't very clear yet on whether he thinks it's a good idea or not But I think having a two-year gap is really nice. I've been working 25 hours a week again since July. I find it quite busy, but it's all going well, so I'm thinking hey, a third one could easily fit in here. In May, the oldest starts school, and then the youngest can do mixed daycare with the toddler group.. imagine if it's our blessing and I'm pregnant right away, then I get lovely leave in the summer.. and no hassle with the oldest's summer vacation either. Okay, I'm really daydreaming, mostly about practical things like this, hihi.

Are you encountering things that you think will be more difficult or more fun with a third?

Do you already know if you're having a boy or a girl? Or are you keeping it a surprise, which is also nice with a third.

    Love,
