After a miscarriage, should I go ahead right away or wait?

Hi,

I had a miscarriage last week at 4w5d. I actually planned to take a break with my partner to let my body rest, but I also read a lot that you might be more fertile after that. Who has had a miscarriage and what did you do afterwards?

Best, Femke

I had a miscarriage at around 4 weeks (a few days after a positive early test) and went straight ahead. I had a cycle of 5.5 weeks then. Right after that, I got pregnant again. Unfortunately, that was also a miscarriage, but not until 10 weeks. Then I was advised to wait a cycle so everything would be clean. But that had to do with the timing. If you're ready, I'd go for it!

I had an early miscarriage at just over 4 weeks in late November and got pregnant right after that. Your body does tell you when it's ready, though. It took over 4 weeks for me to ovulate again. I'm 10 weeks pregnant now.

The idea that you're more fertile after a miscarriage is a myth. You're just as fertile as you were before, and that really depends on your ovulation. I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and kept trying right away. It took over 4 weeks for the last bit of tissue to pass, so the bleeding only stopped after that. We kept trying and got pregnant again after just one period. I'd say just keep going, though it really depends on how you're feeling emotionally. Physically, you're fine to try.

First of all, so sorry to hear about your miscarriage! I've had 2 miscarriages at 6-7 weeks and both times we moved on right away because it felt right for us. Take your time and do what feels right for you both.

I just had a miscarriage and was induced with Cytotec. Both the midwife and the OB said we can try again as soon as the next egg shows up.

Here, miscarriage on 12/12/2017 with curettage, I was just under 9 weeks pregnant. I took the pill for 1 month on the advice of my gynecologist so that my uterus had the optimal chance to recover. I'm still waiting for my first period, had my first ovulation on 24/25 January (had a control ultrasound on 22 Jan showing a very mature follicle, so I did ovulation tests and they were positive on 24 Jan), had another ovulation in the past week (or 2 weeks) and hope to get my period this time.
I created a Facebook group because I don't always feel like everyone gets the chance to share their story and be heard in these larger forums, it's called "getting pregnant after a miscarriage", feel free to join if you'd like.

Give your body the chance to recover, mentally too xx

    Hi Mamske,

    I can't find the group.

I'd like to become a member.
