Round after the miscarriage

Hi ladies, I have a quick question (actually, I'm really unsure about this). I ovulated on Jan 20-21 because on the 25th I went to the gynecologist due to abdominal cramps, and she said it was ovulation and that I'd get my period within 2 weeks. Last week my hCG was 39, and I still haven't gotten my period—I'm now on day 39 after the miscarriage. I did bleed for 2 weeks after the curettage. But if my hCG is 39, how could I have ovulated almost 3 weeks ago?
