Hi everyone,

Now that I'm 8 weeks pregnant, I'm slowly starting to worry about how I'm going to hide it.

But first, I'd like to give a bit of background on my family situation so you understand why I'm worried. I expect mixed reactions. I haven't had contact with my dad for almost a year because he scammed me and my partner out of a large sum of money, along with many other people. This caused us financial problems, but we're paying off the debt perfectly, so no stress there. My mom is manic-depressive; she lost two sons during and shortly after her pregnancies. I'm afraid that if I tell her, she'll try to claim me like she always does, or she'll hug me super tight and tell me how hard I have it. She always makes everything about herself anyway. My grandma is worried about us because my dad is still not entirely in the past (legal battle). And my in-laws just keep talking about how we need to save money, etc.

Despite all that, I got pregnant somewhat planned. Yes, we were trying, but we didn't expect it to happen so quickly (within a year, just 3 months after stopping the pill), especially since it took my mom years to get pregnant. But anyway, we are so happy about it!! I want to tell our miracle around 3 months, maybe 4. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can do this in a fun way?

Yes, I'm afraid of the reactions. I can't really describe why, but let's just say I have a pretty weird family. =)

    First of all, congratulations!!!
I'd just say it without trying to beat around the bush too much.
From the moment you feel like they're making too many demands or interfering too much, I'd address it.
You're an adult after all and made a conscious choice.
I'd just go straight to the point on how to do that...
Do you want something creative or more of an original text?

Thank you!! Yes, we're really happy with it.

Yes, something original I think =).

I haven't had the chance to do it myself yet...
But if we could, I'd paint a (tea)box white and put something baby-related in it every holiday: a sock, a pacifier, etc.
And on the lid, I'd write a little message, and inside, I'd put the ultrasound image.
