Hi!
I was so happy expecting our first baby.. 1st scan was good with a strong heartbeat.. a week later I got cramps which the midwife said were probably growing pains of the uterus. Then a few days later I lost a few drops of blood and on the scan there was no heartbeat anymore:’( initially scheduled to wait it out, but after almost a week that felt too long to me. Made an appointment with the gynecologist at the hospital and got the medication cytotec.. first had to insert 4 tablets at 8 am in the morning and 4 hours later another 4… now more than 48 hours later I’ve had a lot of cramps (which went away with the naproxen painkiller ) but I still haven’t lost anything, just some blood and small membranes. The stomach pain is also almost gone.. I think I’ll ask for a D&C tomorrow, I’m getting completely fed up.
Anyone has experience with this??
Greetings!

    Hi Joris,

That's really tough! I had a missed miscarriage during my current pregnancy that was also induced with medication. Mine worked after just 2 pills.
So I don't have experience with that. But I do know your grief and the feeling of wanting to leave it behind. Still, if I may advise, I'd try the pills again before going for a curettage, if medically possible. Curettage can cause more damage in the long run.
I'm not saying your choice is wrong, but I was advised back then to let my body "resolve" it on its own.
I wandered around for 2 weeks not knowing what would happen. I used the medication and the miscarriage started. It wasn't complete, there was still a tiny piece of residual tissue left. I could then choose between curettage or the pill... I went with the pill because there was a chance the residual tissue would come off with the next period.
Fortunately, that happened. It ultimately took me 8!!! weeks from my miscarriage. From the moment I heard it until the gynecologist told me everything was okay again. Mentally I was a mess and felt like no one understood me. I can really recommend the Facebook group "Miscarriage Mothers" if you're looking for people who understand.

Anyway. I wish you lots of strength. It's hard and incredibly sad. I was pregnant again a month later and in 9.5 weeks I'll be a mother somewhere. So there is hope and it can happen that fast..

    Lots of strength to you!!
