Pregnant & diabetes

Dear people,
Are there any people here who have experience with diabetes and pregnancy?
I'm getting a bit scared of all the stories around me... Is it true that you can't work anymore when you're pregnant? And does the baby really get into danger if you have high blood sugar for a long time? And can you really not enjoy a pregnancy if you have diabetes?
I'm really curious if there are people here with experiences.

Why wouldn't you be able to work? I have diabetes and I'm pregnant, but everything is managed through the hospital for check-ups, so they're taking care of it. And your HbA1c needs to be under 7, otherwise your baby could develop abnormalities!

A response to your 3 questions.
    1. Is it true that you can't work anymore when you're pregnant?
No, that's not true. As long as your pregnancy is without complications and you haven't heard otherwise from your midwife or gynecologist, you can work until max 4 weeks before your due date.
    2. Is the baby really in danger if you have high blood sugar for a long time?
High blood sugar is indeed dangerous for your baby in the long run. That's why you're under extra supervision, as sofija also pointed out. It's better to discuss the exact consequences with your gynecologist or midwife. They can explain it in more detail than I can in a post. You can also ask for clarification more easily if needed.
    3. Can you really not enjoy a pregnancy if you have diabetes?
Of course you can enjoy it; nothing is as beautiful and special as feeling your baby move in your belly. Diabetes doesn't change that; you'll just have to follow the lifestyle rules your gynecologist or midwife gives you.

Definitely, I'm really enjoying it. Even with diabetes, sometimes certain things are just a bit difficult.
