Sadness and physical symptoms after a failed pregnancy

Dear fellow baby-wish girls,

My partner and I have been trying to get pregnant for 14 months now, which unfortunately hasn't happened yet.

We've now started the medical process to find a cause. The first internal ultrasound didn't show anything particularly special. There just wasn't a clearly visible larger corpus luteum. My partner has provided a sperm sample, and in two weeks, we'll get the results from that as well as my blood test.

I find it quite nerve-wracking whether a cause will be found.

Since this summer, I've had daily back pain and sometimes knee pain. They initially thought it might be a hernia, but the MRI didn't confirm that.

The physiotherapist said this week that it might be that I'm not communicating well with my body and that it could be because my pelvic area is now a tense zone.

Do you recognize physical complaints, possibly due to stress and sadness? What do you do about it?

For us, it took 18 months before I got pregnant. It’s indeed tough. We did some tests and everything came back fine. The only issue was that the sperm weren’t swimming fast enough. I let it go and then got pregnant spontaneously. Maybe just have patience, even though it’s hard.

    Hi hali2307,
Thanks for your reply. I find it so hard to let go. This week I was 1 day overdue and had earlier felt like I might have been implanted. I had cramps in my lower abdomen for a few days before my period, similar to menstrual cramps. Unfortunately, I got my period that evening... I notice that I immediately get neck pain and more back pain. It's nice that your wish has come true. I'm still hoping...

I was once a week past due. People around me made it hard by constantly asking, "Are you still not pregnant?" Or... yeah, she's sick because she's still not pregnant. But you have to let go, and if there are people in your circle who keep asking, just tell them it'll happen when the time is right. Don't lose hope. I nearly went crazy from the negative tests. I cried a lot because I thought it wasn't going to work out. But I still had a little hope. I let go and told myself, "You know, it'll happen when it's my time to get pregnant." Seriously, 3 months later, I was pregnant.

I'll do my best to try and let it go, but I think that'll only happen after the results come in at the hospital. Friends and family often make comments about it being time and when we're going to have a little one. Even my own sister, who has two kids, does it. We haven't told anyone we're trying. If something comes up at the hospital, we'll consider telling them.

I went through the same thing. Even with my sister, who had it take 2 years herself. Letting go is the best. In the hospital they said I wouldn't get pregnant in a normal way. Only insemination or IVF would help. In the end I just got pregnant spontaneously, so there you go.
