6 months postpartum and still no tampon.

Stephanie
I have the same issue. I went to the gynecologist and it's a mild uterine prolapse, which means I can no longer tolerate tampons. He said it wouldn't do any harm and that they could possibly place a ring around the uterus (or something like that) so I could use tampons again.
Now it's really impossible to use tampons because it hurts so much. I gave birth 8 months ago.

Mild uterine prolapse, oh my, I didn't think it was heading in that direction at all. I'm not really sure what it entails either, shouldn't urine leakage be part of it? And do you experience any other disadvantages besides not being able to use tampons? Are you going to get the ring inserted? Oh my, what a lot of questions, but it wasn't the response I expected xd

Thanks for your reply, I had never heard of VAB before, I looked it up quickly and found 15 pros and 15 cons. I don't think it's for me, I'm already clumsy with inserting tampons and need an applicator.

Maybe a weird solution, but what if you try it with a little lubricant? Or first wet your fingers with water and use that to moisten the inside a bit. Maybe it will slide in better then?
You don't have any damage to the inside that could explain the pain and tightness, do you? Because then I'm not sure if tampons are really a good idea.

The problem is more with taking the tampon out, as if I'm suddenly too tight or too dry when putting it in it still works, I was torn during childbirth. I don't know if that makes a difference?

It could be that you're experiencing discomfort from the scar. Probably, you're wet enough during sex that it's not a problem, but when you need to remove the tampon, it might not be because all the moisture is being held back by the tampon. I can't think of anything else. You could also try applying some lubricant before removing the tampon. And if that doesn't work, maybe see a doctor.

Thank you for your replies. I also think that’s it, indeed. The dryness and then maybe against the scar tissue is quite unpleasant!

I'm not saying that's the case for you, of course. I haven't had extra pain from it, just occasional fluid loss now and then. I'll hold off on the ring for now; the gynecologist wasn't sure it would work either. Otherwise, it would have become surgery—no idea what they'd do then—but it couldn't have done any harm anyway. I didn't even realize I had it.

Could it be that the tampon just isn't full enough yet?
I sometimes have the experience that I change it a bit too early, then it just doesn't slide out easily. It feels like it's stuck with a vacuum. Try a smaller size and maybe use a panty liner if you're worried about leaking.

I did notice that when he's really full, it hurts less, but it's still not painless, you know. The problem is I've never been able to insert tampons without an applicator. I already use the smallest ones they have with an applicator; as far as I know, they don't make mini tampons with applicators, only regular ones. Thanks for your reply!

Monday I have an appointment with the GP, I'm curious..
Sex also started to hurt a lot suddenly, so I made an appointment anyway.
