First pregnancy

I've been reading along on this forum for a while. Just curious, how old were you when you had your first pregnancy? Did it take long for you to get pregnant?

I'm 24 myself, and I was wondering how long it might take for me... We're now at the end of round 1, and I don't feel like I'm pregnant. I woke up last night with period cramps but nothing showed up (so you never know). It's quite nerve-wracking (and annoying, all that waiting!).

Wishing everyone a speedy pregnancy!

Btw, last month I didn't get my period and had a negative pregnancy test = no ovulation This makes me so insecure! The gynecologist did confirm that everything was okay, so that's a good start at least.

Super veel succes met zwanger worden! Ik ben nu 25 en ben zelf 14 rondes bezig geweest.. duurde voor mij wel lang maar het wachten beloond!

    Hi Lientje,

Did you use contraception for this? And for how long?

I was on the pill for ten years, and my first natural period was 54 days late, so I didn't ovulate back then either. Purely because my cycle was completely off. After that, it quickly went down and now I have nice periods. Well, I hope so, I'm three days late now, I'm on the waiting bench. I'm 26 and my boyfriend is too, and this is officially round 1 for us. We stopped the pill in June 2017 and then basically stopped using condoms too. Now we're really going for it.

Wishing you lots of success and hoping for a positive pregnancy test for all of us!

I'm 22 myself (turning 23 soon), and my fiancé is 27 (almost 28). We stopped taking the pill on 1-10-2016 and have been trying ever since, but unfortunately no result yet. So now I'm round 16 ;-) I was on the pill for 6 years.
We're also waiting for an appointment at the hospital because we'd like to know if everything is okay
I hope you'll have luck sooner; I don't wish anyone all those disappointments and waiting.

    Love,

Oh my gosh, girl22. That’s so heartbreaking.. you really don’t wish that on anyone!! For your sake, I’m really hoping you test positive soon.

My sister and brother-in-law took almost two years.. they had hospital tests and everything was fine. Eventually, she gave up because of all the disappointments and, well, you guessed it, she got pregnant right away. No miscarriage. Everything was fine from the start. Now she’s almost 18 weeks pregnant with a boy
    So there is hope!

Thank you so much, Kimberley, for your kind words.
I wouldn't wish this on anyone. There are definitely women who take even longer. At first, we were like, "Now we're ready," but we weren't in a hurry. Now, it feels like one thing after another has happened. People around me who weren't thinking about kids at all have already become parents, and every month I still get my period.
It makes me a bit unsure, and I sometimes wonder if it's even meant to be for us. Eventually, I took the step to see the GP, which was also really hard because, well, you don't exactly advertise that you're trying to conceive, and it's quite sensitive to talk about. Typing is easier than talking about it, anyway.
I hope we'll get our turn at the hospital soon and that everything will be okay. I think I'll be able to let go a bit more then, as much as you can let go, of course

Yeah, that's really tough in your situation. Then it's easier to just pee than to actually do it.

You'll naturally start doubting your own body or maybe even your boyfriend's body, and you know nothing.

Do you really have to be called in for such an appointment? Don't they know yet when there's a spot available?
  11. proud_mommy #12

For us, it took 18 cycles. It was also our first, and I’m 24 now, 23 when I got pregnant. Currently 39 weeks pregnant.
We did insemination for 2 cycles, the third cycle they wanted to skip, and in the end, we got pregnant spontaneously during the third (actual) insemination.
  12. meid22 #13

@Kimberley yes, there is a waiting list for ;-) and I had to fill in 6 pages of questions first and take an online test ;-) and now I'm waiting to be called up. Hope it happens soon so we have clarity

I live in Belgium. Luckily, it didn't take long here. After a month, I could already get help.
  14. meid22 #15

I live in the Netherlands, it's nice that you were able to get there quickly and that you got to welcome a baby
  15. Kimberley #16

Wow, didn't know there was such a heavy process beforehand.. crap NL
Hope for you that it still works out naturally for you, girl22
  16. proud_mommy #17

The little one isn't here yet. Just waiting haha.

Don't think about it too much. It also helps with getting pregnant, right.
  17. LientjeX #18

@Kimberley, it's exactly the same situation we're in. I also stopped in June '17, then used condoms, and now no contraception.
For me, it took about 5 months before I got my period.

    I get your questions..
I'm almost 23 and 6 weeks pregnant tomorrow.
It really took 8 months for us, and last month I had an early miscarriage.
I stopped the pill a year ago.

It made me so insecure.. phew. Now still, though, I'm pregnant. I can't enjoy it until I've seen the ultrasound on January 26th..

Stress is actually not good. Stay positive.
