Ovulation tests give different results

Hi girls,

I just started my first cycle since stopping the pill and wasn't actually planning to start using ovulation tests yet. But when I thought I noticed stretchy mucus on day 15 (January 5th), I got curious and bought a test from Action. It was negative, just like the next day. From day 17 (January 7th) I started using Etos tests and kept seeing lines that got darker and darker. Today (January 11th, day 20) I also did an Action test alongside the Etos one, because I was curious about the difference. What turned out... the Action one was completely negative. Since I was quite confused, I also bought a test from the brand Test. That one was also negative (a very faint line). See the attached photo.

I have no idea whether I've ovulated or not. Could it be that the Etos tests are overly sensitive or something? Do you have any experiences with different brands?

    Hey Loesj,

Totally get it. Those Etos tests are probably way more sensitive. I had the same thing this month with my Sensitest ones. They showed positive on CD8, just like yours, even though other tests revealed my LH peak wasn't until CD14.

So, the Etos tests are likely too sensitive for you. Better to continue with different tests. Good luck!

Or did your peak happen on day 14, making the other tests too late?

It’s indeed possible that my ovulation was earlier than expected, though it seemed a bit early to me since I just recently stopped the pill. I didn’t have stretchy mucus on day 15 either, and I did have some between days 15 and 20.. it’s all quite confusing.
Well, I guess I’ll just have to wait patiently to see when I get my period (or rather, not get it, of course).
By the way, which brand of ovulation tests have you all had the best experience with?

With my previous pregnancy, I was really happy with Sensitest Extra Sensitive. Now, these kept showing positive results. So I switched to the Kruidvat ones, and they seem to work well here.

That's why I'm not a fan of the test strips. I used Clearblue ovulation tests for one cycle that give a smiley when you're fertile. Got pregnant right away. They're not cheap, but they couldn't be clearer.

Thanks girls, maybe next time I'll try the one from Kruidvat or Clear Blue!

    I've tried different kinds.

Kruidvat and 2besure are quite sensitive, I think, and Sensitest extra sensitive is even more so. They always give me a line.

Action ones work super well for me—normally no line, but they show up clearly around the right time. I've also used Sensitest, but I find them a bit pricey.

So I'll still use the 2besure ones for checking, but I'm going to trust my body too. Mucus and desire = let's go for it, haha!

The ones from CB are ridiculously expensive. €30 for 10—you can get 100 from 2besure for that price.
