Ninthe or Minthe

What do you guys like better: Ninthe or Minthe? And with or without an h? I think both names are really nice, but I just can't decide. Plus, I'm wondering if the names aren't too fussy.. do they actually mean something, or are they more like a variant of all the nte-names these days?

For Ninthe, the meaning is: pure/clean
    For Minthe, it's water nymph

Both are lovely! Ninthe is a bit more common than Minthe.. I think with an h it looks nicer.

My preference is Minthe, but I also like Ninthe. I actually think Minte (without the h) is the nicest because it looks fresher, but since Minte is also used as a boy's name and Minthe isn't, I'd probably go with Minthe. I'd write Ninthe with an h because that's the standard spelling and would cause the least confusion (in the Netherlands there are 94 Nintes and 549 Ninthes). I do think these are names that were invented at some point, so they don't really stem from anywhere and therefore don't have a real meaning. But that applies to a lot of names. I remember Nina being like that at first too—a new, invented name—while now it's a very normal name because we're used to it. Bente, by the way, is a name that really has a history and meaning; it comes from Benedictus and means "the blessed." Also a nice name.

All names were invented at some point... When people say a name is 'invented' or 'cobbled together', they usually just mean they hadn't heard it before, and you're the first to introduce them to it. And often, the name already existed somewhere else in the world anyway.

I think Ninthe is the most beautiful!

I know a family here with three sisters: Ninthe, Florea, and Soïse. I think that's really nice!

Both are really nice, I personally think it looks better without the h, but whichever you choose, it's a beautiful name.
