Growth delay in baby

Hellooo,

My husband and I were told that when I was 32 weeks pregnant that our baby was small. (We are 1.70 and 1.97) she was about 3.5 weeks behind.

Since then we've had growth ultrasounds. The first one she had grown, but the ratio showed she was on the same line. The second growth ultrasound (today at 36+3) was promising. She has made up ground. She is still just over 2 weeks behind and they now estimate her at around 2500 grams! That is reassuring.

But still... I wonder where it comes from! All blood flow is good, baby is doing well. As far as they can see of course. She moves fine.

On the one hand I am super happy that she is now growing so well, health comes first, but I am worried. That's why I was a bit disappointed that there is now a chance that I might not get that confirmation that our little princess is healthy until 42 weeks.

I'm getting the plan of action next Thursday, but I had fixed myself on 40 weeks at the latest so I'm a bit disappointed and of course still worried.

What do you think about this? Should I just accept it and get over it?

Even if everything's fine with the baby, it doesn't mean they'll be born at 40 weeks. Keep in mind that the measurements on the ultrasound are just estimates. It's possible your baby is actually bigger than they think. They might also have a growth spurt later on. As long as they're following an upward trend, it's usually fine.

Don't let yourself get worked up by estimates. My sister's daughter was predicted to be a huge baby. At least 4 kilos, we had to buy size 62 as the starting size. In the end, at 40+4, she was a cute little girl of 3 kilos. So we ended up buying clothes in size 50 because everything was too big.

My youngest was estimated at 2650 grams at 38 weeks... yeah, they said this one would weigh at most 3200 grams at 40 weeks, really a tiny one. In the end, at 41 weeks, 3740 grams... and my oldest only came at 42 weeks with a weight of 3600 grams. Every baby is different and comes when he/she is ready. So don't stick to 40 weeks.
