Something completely different: guilt

I just need to get this off my chest. I feel so much sadness, pain, and above all guilt/selfishness right now... and I don't want to burden anyone in my circle with this at the moment.

As some of you know, I had a miscarriage on November 23rd. It really hit me and my partner hard, and we both still get waves of tears over it.

So now we're trying to conceive a baby, which seemed pretty straightforward. Until Friday...

My niece (my sister's oldest daughter, just 19 years old) was diagnosed with cervical cancer. The Pap test came back as Pap5. The follow-up ultrasound was also very bad.

She has to go to the LUMC on Tuesday to see if it has spread to her uterus and whether they need to remove just her cervix or her entire uterus.

It feels so cruel and wrong to be dealing with this right now...

Little anonymous one, that's just awful about your miscarriage, strength with the loss!
It must also be a difficult time in your family if such a young girl has cancer. It's completely separate from your desire for children but I understand that you can't see it as separate. I hope the results are not too bad and above all a baby can bring a lot of distraction and love to a family and I wish that for your family at the moment.
