Hi moms, can someone maybe help me? I don't know anymore... my son turns 5 months on December 21st. He was really such a cheerful little guy from month 2 until two weeks ago. Suddenly he started crying and screaming more, and it was really through and through, enough that even the neighbor was startled by it... At night he sleeps through, luckily only had one fever spike of 38.2. No vaccinations these past two weeks. Besides, he has reflux but we have medicine for eczema, but now we're using ointments for that. It's really severe eczema though, on his head and cheeks, completely broken out. We're doing everything we can: keeping the crib upright, feeding calmly, burping calmly, bathing less with fragrance-free products, just carrying on like this. But good, since two weeks his poop has changed, it's thin and greenish. He's drooling insanely, so a lot of people think it's teething. The GP thinks it's weird that he's inconsolable, that's not just teething.. I don't see or feel any teeth by the way, but he has all the symptoms of teething. I've tried different teething rings and teething gels, but the crying isn't decreasing. We really don't know what to do. Went to the GP again today, had to submit a stool sample because we gave Kruidvat Extra Care formula from birth, and salmonella was detected in it. The GP says if he has salmonella, it doesn't need treatment because it leaves the body on its own? But I read that babies can get very sick from it. He's drinking his new Nutricia formula well, against colic. Does anyone have any idea what it could be or what I can do? Sometimes he cries so hard that his whole body shakes..

Oh, the reaction from my GP had everything checked, no irritated esophagus (due to reflux), was calm, no inflammation, etc. But my little boy does have a hernia, fluid in the balls... She said I should arrange for some childcare so I can get a bit of rest... Didn't really leave me with a good feeling after the visit.

I think you should wait for the GP's findings. But I can totally understand why you're so worried, he's still so tiny and can't say what's wrong. Every baby has a phase where they're not feeling themselves. It could be that they're coming down with something, teething (which can take a while), or going through a growth spurt. It's hard to say. I don't have any other tips than what you've already done. Try to stay calm as long as your baby is eating and drinking and not losing weight, there's not much to worry about yet. Hang in there, I understand your concern.
