mother doesn't approve of the name

help! I've been thinking about the name Nola for a while, but I know my mom doesn't like it.
When we were watching a movie and there was a girl named Nola, she said what an awful name.
but I actually think it's quite nice...........
I don't really care what people think of it in general, but what my parents think does matter!
It wouldn't be nice either if you had to call Nola, Nola, Nola all day long while thinking it's an awful name.

What do you all think?
What do you all think of the name Nola anyway, do you also think it sounds so harsh and awful like my mother, or do you like Nola?

Thanks in advance!,

That went well, you know. I sometimes have to get used to names too, and I know my parents don't always like some of the grandkids' names, but they really don't think about it anymore! I think you can totally go for it.

I personally think it might make a difference if your baby ends up being called that.
Because then it's her grandchild and she might look at the name differently.
I can imagine that this might shock you and that it affects you.
After all, she is the mother.
Our third little girl is named Jasmijn.
But the name I also liked for her was Sjemene.
My mother also doesn't think it's a nice or beautiful name.
She also said that she didn't think it was a nice name, but she said well, you decide. But she really didn't think it was a beautiful name at all.
Now that did affect me too because I have a very good relationship with my mother and we're also kind of friends. But the reason I named her Jasmijn is not because she didn't like it, but because my husband didn't seem to be so into this name either.
    So it became Jasmijn
You ask what we think of Nola?
    Honestly, not my taste.
But not an ugly or terrible name.
I just don't think it's such a beautiful name, not a name that would be on my list. But good for someone else.
If your heart is set on this name, I would go for it, otherwise you might regret it if you choose another name.
Or maybe choose Ilona instead, it sounds a bit like Nola.

Greetings and good luck with your decision.

I don't find it at all pompous or awful-sounding. I think it's a really nice name! But I understand your hesitation, because you probably don't think the name is beautiful. It's always nice to hear (especially from your parents) that the name is liked. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it..
You've had this name in mind for a while, and if it's in your heart, I'd definitely go for it! I think it's a really nice name anyway!

I think Nola is such a beautiful, feminine, and cheerful name!
My parents also had to get used to our kids' names at first. But it never became an issue. The names that my parents like, I find a bit less appealing!

I think Nola is a beautiful name. I'd just go with it.
