Fear of the expulsion phase, any tips?

Unfortunately, I can relate. I don't have any tips other than to try to push it out as quickly as possible. I got scared during my fourth birth because the expulsion phase of the third one hurt so much. With the third, I didn't have painful back labor like with the second and first. But the end did hurt a lot and seemed to take some effort. When my water broke, that also hurt, by the way, with Jasmijn. Our third little girl. But afterwards, of course, relieved that it was over. The third was born 7 days later. She was due on March 18, 2016, and came on March 24. Maybe that's why it was a bit heavier. Our second girl came 8 days early, was small, so the end went so fast that I thought, is she out already? The fourth, our boy, was due on August 25 and came on August 24 this year. So it hurt a lot at the end with him too. But also a lot of back labor this time. Otherwise, they were both born at home because the dilation went too fast to get to the hospital. But try to think about it as little as possible because every pregnancy is different. All 4 were completely different from each other. I understand you very well, even Good luck in advance and hope it will be okay for you. Otherwise, tell your midwife maybe so they can take it into account and know ways to deal with it better.

and about the phobia you mentioned,
    I don't think it's a phobia.
It's really very understandable that you're afraid of that.
    Not weird at all, even.
And it's more likely if you've had births before.
    Fear develops faster.

Hi dear Madelene! Thank you so much for the detailed reply!! It’s such a relief to know I’m not the only one! And that you understand! It’s true that it makes sense that fear increases when you’ve had multiple births. Still, I was a bit surprised because I didn’t have any issues during my second birth, and my deliveries have always gone well. The third one was a bit different, but that was actually my own fault haha!

I talked to the midwife about it this afternoon, but she just kept asking how I thought I could handle it...????????????

Anyway, I guess I’ll start googling! If you say it’s so relatable, there must be techniques or something out there!

Thanks again, and have a lovely evening!!

    You're very welcome
It's so unfortunate that the midwife is asking you if you have ideas to help reduce the anxiety.
Shouldn't she be the one coming up with solutions?
I hope you can find some good tips online.
Maybe consider reaching out to a doula—they're there to provide extra support during childbirth for the mother.
Perhaps she could really help with that final stretch.
You might want to search Google for more info.
Thank you, and I hope you have a nice evening too
