brand bottles

Hi everyone,

We’ve been looking around a bit for baby stuff, including the types of bottles you can find on the market. We’d love to know if anyone already has experience with the Avent (Philips) and/or Tommee Tippee brands. What are your experiences, pros and cons with these products?

Thanks in advance!

Our little one had trouble latching on and sucking properly with those big nipples, but we're really excited about the Difrax bottles.

It really depends on your baby.
Our daughter had an incredible sucking strength. I had bought her bottles and teats from HEMA, but she emptied them in 3 minutes (including burping!!!!). They advised switching to Avent then, because those teats are much firmer. With those it did indeed get better: she took 5 minutes (including burping) .

When our son was born, we immediately went back to Avent bottles and teats, but he struggled to get anything out. We tried various other bottles. Narrow teats, wide teats, softer teats, but it remained difficult. Eventually, it turned out that Julian had severe hidden reflux (he burped a lot) and therefore had trouble "holding" the teat properly. After he started on thickened formula and medication, everything improved, but those firm Avent bottles and teats never worked. In the end, we ended up with the wide bottles + teats from HEMA. Those teats were less firm than Avent, but still a bit firmer than "normal" teats.

If I were you, I wouldn't spend too much money on it at first: buy one bottle with teat(s) and try that out. Only once you've found bottles/teats that work well should you buy more.

    Good luck!

    Hi,
    Thanks for all the tips.
We just created our birth registry yesterday and chose a starter set from Tommee Tippee. I’d like to breastfeed for the first three months, and the shape of the nipples would be well-suited for that.
We’ll see how it goes :-)

    Best,
    Kelly

At first, the Dr. Brown bottles really helped with the colic... Now I bought them again :-)

I don't really have a favorite brand. At first, I thought the Difrax bottles were great because you can take them completely apart. Very handy for cleaning. But they started leaking pretty quickly :s

The Tommee Tippee bottles were recommended by the hospital because I was breastfeeding. They're supposed to mimic the breast most closely, so babies are less likely to develop nipple confusion. I ended up using different bottles and didn't really notice any confusion.

I also have the Avent bottles here, but dad made the hole bigger because we thought there wasn't enough milk coming out. Now way too much comes out, of course.

So yeah, which one is the best now :s
Anyway, we can say ours are the best, but maybe your baby won't like the bottle at all
    Love, Liena
