Had unprotected sex 1 day after my period. Pregnant?

Hi! I haven't been on the pill for at least a year now. I had unprotected sex 1 day after my last period, and my boyfriend also came inside me. Could I be pregnant? Has anyone else experienced this?

Love, Liz

It seems very unlikely to me that you're pregnant. There's always a tiny chance it could still happen, depending on the length of your cycle too! How long is your cycle normally, and how long are your periods normally?

The chance is indeed small, but it's there. What contraception are you using then?

The chance is almost zero. Your ovulation happens 14 days before your next period. I don't know how long your cycle is, but that makes it unlikely. If you don't want to get pregnant, you should use some form of contraception. If you do want to get pregnant, you'll need to have sex around your ovulation. Everything about that is easy to find on the internet.

Doesn't sound right: you're not fertile yet...

So you mean 1 day after the bleeding stopped? Then I honestly think that chance isn't zero. It really depends on how long your cycle normally is and how long your period lasts. They say sperm can sometimes live up to a week, so with a shorter cycle (where ovulation happens earlier than about 14 days after the start of your period), there is definitely a chance.
Would you want it or would you be happy with it?

    Hi there
I'm dealing with a problem. I had unprotected sex on the first day after my period. I know the chance is small, but I'm still really worried about it.

Why are you so worked up? Where did he finish? And why unprotected if you don't want a baby?

It was definitely not smart, and I sure don't want kids right now. He didn't actually come inside me. She's stressing me out because I shouldn't have done it unsafely in the first place. I know people are probably going to say it's my own stupid mistake, but unfortunately, there's not much more I can do about it now.

Morning, after picking up the morning-after pill at the Kruidvat, and never having unsafe sex again.

I was too late with the morning-after pill... that's why I'm worried.
  11. Merel #12

The chance that you're pregnant is extremely small, but if you're unsure, maybe check with the doctor anyway.
  12. Suuske #13

See my post above from 10/21. So I don't think the chance is zero, but it depends on the length of your period, the length of your cycle, and how long sperm survive. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do now is wait. And if your period doesn't come, take a test. Good luck waiting!

Anyway, the chance is smaller if it's a week later. But theoretically, she could get pregnant from any sex. And maybe she does this more often or before singing in church or something... all risky if you don't want to get pregnant.

But an anonymous guest, so we probably won't hear much more from her.

I find it a strange opinion to have about me. You immediately assume I have unsafe sex more often? Very odd. I made a stupid mistake, and I agree with that. Yes, the mistake has already been made, so I'm just hoping for well-meaning advice, please.
  15. Merel #16

Lizz234 (if you're also the anonymous one); I'm not saying you do it more often unsafe, it says MAYBE. And you didn't come here for advice, but for an answer to a question no one can answer...
  16. Anoniem Guest #17

I come here for advice, not for an answer. I appreciate all the other advice! Thanks for that.
But I don't agree with you, Merel. You're just making things up for me again, but fine, let's just leave it at that.
  17. Merel #18

What do I just fill in for you?
  18. Anoniem Guest #19

I don't feel like continuing the discussion anymore. You've got your opinion, and I have mine.
  19. Merel #20

It wasn't a discussion. You're saying I assume you have unsafe sex more often (which I didn't say; it says "maybe she does this more often". Otherwise, I would have said that you do this more often. I don't really like it when an anonymous person suddenly says I say something, calls it "strange," and does so while it's clear to everyone reading that I indicated it "maybe" could happen, just to show that you can get pregnant from every time.

And then you do it again; you claim I "make things up for you," but you don't back that up either.
But you're right; why argue when you don't address anything and an anonymous person comes to a forum asking if "they could be pregnant from unsafe sex?" Then it seems more useful for you to spend your time reading your biology book (and I'll fill that in for you! ).

Big disadvantage of this forum, all those anonymous "guests."
