hi lola86
yes, i'm not immune to toxoplasmosis either. and yes, i don't mind not eating my veggies and definitely making sure your meat is well-cooked.
if they give you weird looks, just say so, okay? i do that anyway.
and with cats, it's about avoiding contact with their feces. if you have cats, have someone else change the litter box for you.

love, tammi

    Hi Tammi,
Thanks for your reply. How far do you go with washing the veggies? I heard some people wash their veggies 4 times?

    Best,

    Hi!
I also need to be careful with raw veggies—I have to wash them really well, which I do like twice or so anyway. My gynecologist told me that if I haven’t washed the veggies myself, I’m not allowed to eat them. So no “healthy sandwich” from somewhere else, not at restaurants either… And of course, meat needs to be cooked well—no pink inside. If I’ve had raw meat, I have to wash my hands thoroughly, etc. Oh, and I don’t have cats, so that’s not an issue for me. I should wear gloves when working in the garden, but I don’t—my garden is for my little guy! :-)

I definitely won't eat raw meat and such. But lettuce or veggies from a restaurant or a sandwich from the sandwich shop is fine though... You can assume those companies follow the regulations. Of course, you wash your hands after handling chicken fillet, raw meat, etc., even when you're not pregnant? If you're not allowed to touch a cat anymore, it should go outside... Because a cat goes everywhere in the house... The emphasis is on changing the litter box and gardening due to urine and feces... So basically! My sister once said that if you have a toast with a slice of American beef (prepared), it won't harm you, but you shouldn't make a meal out of it!

Definitely wash veggies and fruit well and still peel them. You can touch cats but wash your hands (it's mostly young kittens that carry the toxoplasmosis parasite) and don't touch cat feces. Cook meat thoroughly. That's all you can do.

    @olivia,

yes, you wash veggies even when you're not pregnant, right?
As I said, if you have cats, have someone else change the litter box.
And the worst thing for toxoplasmosis is eating raw meat.
And olivia, is everything okay with you?????

    @LOLA,
I wash my veggies even when I'm not pregnant, so if you just wash them well like usual, that's more than enough.

    Love, Tammi

    Hey Tammi,
Yeah, everything's good here. I'm a bit more reassured now, I have a new midwife and a new hospital.
My results from the last blood test are also positive except for
severe anemia and iron deficiency, this little one takes everything I have!!
But anyway, I have pills for that.

    How's everything going for you???

And on top of that, I've been feeling nauseous from morning till night It's really not easy to feel "happy" this way..
I already take all kinds of ginger stuff, drink water, and have rusks before I get out of bed, etc., but if anyone has more tips to help me feel better, they're very welcome!
    Thanks

Hang in there. During my first pregnancy, I wasn't immune either. I did wash my veggies though. Didn't eat red meat, etc. I just had to clean the cat litter box. My (ex)husband back then didn't care. "Nonsense," he said. In the end, I still got infected.
Probably through the cat litter box.

You can totally freak out about everything, but then you can't do anything at all. You can still eat a salad, and you don't have to read every single label to see exactly what's in it.

I don't change cat litter, do gardening, or eat raw meat... Now I found out last week that I've probably already had it once, so I'm immune (?) but of course I won't go looking for it.

    I'm not immune either.
When I go to Pitabar, I don't ask for veggies, but if I eat at a decent restaurant, I just assume those people wash their veggies properly too. Probably even better than I do.
I don't eat raw meat, watch out for raw eggs, and my husband cleans the cat litter box every day.

I'm now 27 weeks pregnant and haven't caught anything yet.

    I don't have cats myself.

Actually, I have a question: how do you know if you've caught something like this?

    Just curious.

    Can you eat feta cheese?
  13. Liesseling #14

Feta cheese is fine, but I personally go for the cheaper white salad cheese—it's cow's milk, while feta is goat.

    Hi,
I'm 4 weeks pregnant and just had a blood test. It showed that I still have a small amount of toxoplasmosis in my blood. They estimate that I got infected about 4 months ago and it would take a long time to clear from my body. How much risk am I still at? So when I got pregnant, the infection was already 3 months old? Any advice? Should I be worried? It's my first baby!
