5 days later

I know exactly when my last period was because I’ve been tracking it for a year now.
I stopped the pill a year ago and my cycle averages 32 days.
When I look at how far along I am based on the dating scan, it doesn’t match up with the first day of my last period—it’s a 5-day difference.
My last period started on the 15th, but the dating scan calculates from the 21st.
Is this because I have a longer cycle and ovulated later?
So does that mean I’m 5 days less pregnant than if calculated from my last period?

    That's right, Genevieve.
Basically, when counting from the first day of your last period, it's assumed you have a 28-day cycle. So for every day your cycle is longer, you're actually a day less pregnant. With a 32-day cycle, you'd already expect a difference of 4 days And then it's also true that your ovulation might happen at a slightly different time than you think, which can cause further differences. But they do the dating scan precisely because the rule of thumb with the last day of your period isn't that reliable, especially not for women with an irregular cycle.
