Lacking inspiration

Biebsie
Hi there.
We're expecting our third baby, but we really have no idea what name to give the new little one.
We're thinking of James for a boy, but we need a second name because our other kids have one too.
For a girl, we're completely out of inspiration.
We're looking a bit in the English-speaking direction, but it shouldn't be too cheesy.
Just simple but not too common names. No Lindsey, Chelsea or Cindy-like names. That's way too tacky.
It has to fit with:
Juliën Liam & Lynn Elise.
We've already gone through countless name lists, but none of them quite hit the mark.

James Owen did come up too. But friends of ours just became parents of Owen, so I don't like that idea anymore.
I personally think Cedric is too French and not so nice either. Nathan is on my list together with Iain. But my partner doesn't like those names.
I personally find the girl names less appealing. With the boy names, except for Cedric, you're on the right track.

Nice name, James! For a girl, I really like Kate! Also Emilie or Livia.
  3. Agnes Guest #4

James Samuel, James Aron, James Lucas, James Damiën, James Lewis, James Dylan, James Aiden, James Robin, James Ruben, James Boris, James Finn, James Daryl, James Mason
For girls: Lucy, Emmy, Ruby, Loïs, Emily, Fay, May, Liz, Liv, Zoë, Maud, Ella, Jill, Ivy, Indy, Joy, June, Rose, Lizzy, Amy, Kayla, Ayla, Alice, Luna, Yara

Among the boys' names from Agnes, there are a few good hits like Lewis and Aiden. But also a lot of misses and names that are common in our immediate circle. So you can already see how tricky it is.
The girls' names, on the other hand, aren't what we're looking for. They seem too similar to our daughter's name. It has to fit in, but then in a completely different set of names. If you know what I mean.
Besides, we're not being too picky
  5. Anouk Guest #6

James Caylen, James Daley, James Fender, James Michael, James Noah, James Nolan, James Ravi, James River, James Ryan, James Tyler, James Vigo

As for girls' names, I think Amy fits really well:
And then for example: Amy Hannah, Amy Louise or Amy Sophie.

But as far as girls' names go, I'd really look for a first name first. Here are some options:
Ashley, Amy, Chloë, Dana, Faya, Faye, Felice, Hailey, Isha, Izzy, Katie, Kyra, Maya, Pippa, Romy, Rosa, Roxy, Roza, Sasha, Tanja, Tirza, Veerle, Willow, Yentl, Zara, Zenzi

These aren't the girl names that give us that "yes" feeling. I have a strong feeling we're having a boy, so maybe that's why the focus is more on boy names and the girl names just aren't clicking subconscious thing.

James Lewis actually worked pretty well for both, so he might still be an option. For a girl, I'm really looking for something else. Something longer, I think. I can't quite picture it yet. Maybe later, once we know the gender.

Great to hear from you, Biebsie! I'll try out some different genres for girl names then, because I'm out of ideas for English names . Here we go: Ava, Anouk, Carice, Robin, Merel, Niene, Suus, Suze, Nika, Mia, Nikki, Amber, Lola, Esmay, Elena, Ela, Britt, Viënna, Isabel, Isa, Riva, Naomi, Jana, Sasha, Mara, Fabienne, Annabel, Eva, Bibi, Kaya, Jamie, Noa, Cecile, Chanel, Vera, Alice, Fenna... hope there's something in there!

You're heading in a slightly better direction, Agnes. But he's still not in there. Niene seems like Nienke. I briefly thought that was it, but doubt crept in. Don't they say, don't go with doubt?
Just put the list under Vriends nose and he raised an eyebrow and said hmm..nah.
Bibi is also not an option, by the way. That's what I'm called by good friends

James Lewis does sound good indeed.

I'm also going to make another attempt with longer girl names:
Aïsha, Alexis, Aster, Bibiche, Bodine, Carlijn, Celia, Céline, Dahlia, Elea, Elena, Emily, Emmy, Ilaine, Ilayza, Imara, Irisa, Isolde, Kiara, Kristel, Mariël, Megan, Melua, Moïse, Muriël, Myrthe, Noëlle, Rhodé, Robine, Sheryl, Stella, Thalia

I'm curious if I'm getting closer to the right direction with these.

That does sound more like Anouk.
I think Ilaine sounds pretty nice.
I once thought of Iris, but his crazy ex is also called that then you might have a bit of a name trend?
    Elena isn't bad either.
  11. Anouk Guest #12

    One last attempt then, haha

Alana, Alexa, Amara, Amaris, Amé, Charlot, Chenoa, Danique, Denise, Elodie, Elora, Enoa, Evanna, Evelijn, Every, Feline, Fenna, Florine, Hannah, Heleen, Idoya, Isaura, Lorena, Louise, Marente, Melanie, Minthe, Nikita, Noémi, Oletha, Quinda, Quirine. Rosalie, Roxanne, Sayuri, Thirza, Thoya, Valenthe, Valerie, Violet, Vivian, Willemijn

You're coming up with the weirdest names
    Minthe? Sayuri?
  13. An Guest #14

Sayuri, that name... my dog's name! (Shiba Inu) It's a Japanese name and means white lily!
Haha, you're pretty direct in your answers, Biebsie ;-)
'You come up with the most weird names!'
'There are a lot of misses among them'
'You're already aiming in a slightly better direction, Anouk...'
And the other girls here just try... ;-)
Have you figured it out yet?
  14. Biebsie started this #15

Oh, but it's absolutely not meant badly. I'm happy with all the input.
For a girl, we're still not sure, but I've decided to put it aside for now. I have a feeling it's going to be a boy.
  15. Loeloe Guest #16

    aahha,
Nice to read, I know very well what you don't want
The perfect name is also hard to find.

I'm not really into James, but James Lewis I really don't like at all. For me, that name doesn't fit. Sorry.

I'm really curious what the name will eventually be... let us know ??!

Nobody has to think our kids' names are beautiful. As long as they carry them with pride I've never found it so hard to come up with a name before. It's something they'll carry with them their whole lives.

James for a boy is pretty much set in stone. Lewis won't be it in the end.
We still think it's a nice name, but having two kids with the same initials seems really impractical to us.
I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant, so I should know by at the latest 7 weeks. Hope to find out earlier.

    Back with baby news. .

    It's a girl :/ help!
Fortunately, the gender itself isn't a disappointment. We were both fine with either. A boy would have been nice for our oldest, who really wanted a little brother. A girl is more convenient because the youngest is also a girl, so her clothes can be passed down directly.

The only thing that's tricky is still the name. We've narrowed it down to two potential names: Noëlle and Elena. But we're not convinced yet.

Yesterday I went through over 7000 names, but very few spoke to me.
Fortunately, we still have about five months to think about it.
  18. Agnes Guest #19

Congratulations on the news! I think both Noëlle and Elena are great names, good luck with choosing. (You could always combine them into Loëlle ).
  19. Anonymous Guest #20

Congratulations! Haha, yes, that’s indeed super handy to reuse those clothes. Both names are great, really nice! I like Noëlle better! Good luck!
