Hi!
We have a son who's almost 2. He's called Dion (last name Duisbergen).
Now we're having another son. My wife and I haven't quite agreed on the name yet. It'll work out, but I'm curious to hear what others think.
We definitely want a tough, short name that fits with his big brother's name. The options left are Tygo, Vince, and Luuk.
So it'll be:
- Dion and Tygo Duisbergen
- Dion and Luuk Duisbergen
- Dion and Vince Duisbergen

I'm curious to hear your reactions. Thanks in advance!

I think Vince is by far the prettiest!
I also find Dion and Tygo a bit too similar (both have the "ie" and "o" pronunciation, and the d and t sound alike). Luuk isn't really my thing. I think Luk looks better.

My nephew is named Vinz. But I also think Vince is a lovely name!

    I still think it's a beautiful name.

I agree with the DVD about Tycho.
Luuk and Vince are both good options.

    Definitely Vince!

Thanks for your replies so far. Here are my considerations again:

My preference was Tygo, tough and fits nicely with Dion in terms of sound. But I see it's less liked here. Still, I'll think it over carefully.

The feeling I got with Vince was a bit 'posh' (my wife suggested it, she's the biggest fan of this name).

And we both think Luuk is very nice, but it's less unique than, for example, Vince and Tygo. If Dion had been named Daan, I think Luuk would fit better.

Well, if we all just go by the formers' opinions, it'll be a monotonous affair, I'd say.

Why not choose what fits the feeling you have for your baby? Why does it have to fit in? It'll grow into it naturally.

I think your names are terrible, and you probably think ours are great. Lucky us.

We chose each child's name based on feeling. That's how we ended up with 4 completely different names that didn't seem to go together at first. Fascinating. And fascinating what the rest of the world thinks. As long as it doesn't become W.C. Eend or Fokke, know-it-all.

Funny how you think about the names. I personally find Luuk more unique than Vince, because I've heard/read Vince so incredibly often this year. Here in the area, there are already at least four brothers/sisters of friends named Vincent (a bit of an informal version of Vincent too).

I do think Tygo is quite cool.

And it remains a choice where you should go by your own taste.

With a Vince, I meant so.

    Vince
