Miscarriage

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, I had an early miscarriage on July 17th. Normally I have a 28-day cycle. Now I’m having sore breasts, back pain, and stomach pain again. But yeah, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I know my cycle can take longer, but I’m already on day 29 again. Who else has experienced this, and how long does it usually take for my cycle to get back on track, or possibly get pregnant again?

Hi Vriesje, thank you so much for your reply. After 2 days, the hCG was already out of my body, so on July 19th. Very quickly, luckily. That sounds really intense for you too.. is it a long time ago? Normal 28-day cycle here, today is day 30 but well, we'll see.. I dreamed the day before the miscarriage that something was wrong and last night that I had given birth to a little mini-me. So strange. Hope this dream comes true too. X

I've had two miscarriages - one at 8 weeks that was induced with Cytotec, and an early one at 5 weeks (but the test was already negative before it started). With the first miscarriage, it took 7 weeks for my period to return, and my cycle was a big mess: so no pregnancy.
After the second miscarriage, I had ovulation according to my normal cycle and even got pregnant. I mean: you have no idea, it can really go in any direction...

I also had a miscarriage in June and now I'm 4 weeks pregnant again, but I'm afraid I'll have another miscarriage. How big is the chance?

    Hi Spontaan,

First of all, lots of strength—a miscarriage is really tough to go through, and it naturally makes a new pregnancy extra nerve-wracking.

After one miscarriage, the chance of having a second one isn't higher—still around 10-15%. It only becomes slightly higher (25%) after two miscarriages, but the chance that the next pregnancy will go well is always much greater than the chance that it will miscarry again.

Try to enjoy the pregnancy, however hard that might be! (I'm not so good at that myself yet )

Thank you so much for your words, Loes. I'm really trying to enjoy it, but my thoughts keep getting hopeless. But I'll do my best to stay positive.

I know exactly how it feels. After two miscarriages, I also can't really enjoy this pregnancy yet. I'm mostly afraid that I'll again be vomiting over the toilet for no reason. But let's say it goes well this time - and the chance is really big - I'd feel really bad afterwards if I spent the whole pregnancy in fear.

That's what I tell myself and sometimes it works better than other times I guess it's all part of it. Anyway, I'm rooting for you!

I really hope this pregnancy goes well for you. I'll also pray for you.
What's bothering me isn't any pregnancy ailments. Except for being really tired. But I'll stay positive. I'm 3 weeks and 5 days.

That's still very early, Spontaan! I've got different symptoms this time around anyway (I'm not feeling anything in my breasts, for example). The nausea I had at 4.5 weeks in my previous two pregnancies only started now, a full week later. And just as intense.

Having or not having symptoms doesn't really say anything about a healthy pregnancy; it's only if they disappear very suddenly that it could mean bad news. So no worries!

Hi Loes, I have a question. Could you maybe message me privately?

    Hi Spontaan,
I left a response on your profile. Unfortunately, I can't send a private message or friendship request

No problem, I'll do it that way. Thanks for trying.
Do you experience severe pain during intercourse?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

No, I don’t really relate to that. I did have cramps low in my uterus, which wasn’t pleasant at all. That’s why I haven’t tried this pregnancy yet. It wasn’t really something to worry about at the time.
