With your baby in a van

Hi everyone!

I'm currently 4 months pregnant, wow that goes fast!
We're going on a nice little vacation at the end of this month. Just to get away for a bit.
The baby is due around January 17th.
However, we'd like to go back to our vacation home (which is actually my hometown) around February.
Now we're traveling with a camper van, with 3 seats in the front.
My question is, is it allowed to sit with a baby in a car seat in the front of the camper van?
And if that's allowed, should the baby sit in the middle or on the side in the passenger seat?

Thanks in advance!

If the Maxi-Cosi can be secured with the seatbelt and the airbag is off, that shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Hi JWx, thanks for your reply!
It doesn't seem like a real problem to me either, but my question is more about whether it's allowed?
There are quite a few rules attached to those kinds of things.
We'll be traveling through Belgium, France, and Spain.
We'd rather avoid unexpected problems because it falls outside the rules, if you know what I mean.

I think the rules here are stricter than in those countries. When my son was 6 weeks old, we went to Morocco, passing through those countries too. He barely sat in the Maxi-Cosi but lay flat on the back seat. That’s not allowed either, but no one paid attention to it.

MamaN, thank you for your reply.
The baby will probably end up in the Maxi-Cosi, and alternately in a baby carrier on my belly.
I can imagine that a baby isn't allowed to lie on the back seat.
But I don't want to end up with a problem later where we have the child in the front of the van in the Maxi-Cosi, which isn't allowed, and we wouldn't be allowed to continue or something like that.
That's already unpleasant enough, but if you're sitting with a baby and have no other option, it's even more unpleasant.
