Help! We can't pick a name..

Marieke
I'm due in three weeks and we just can't seem to find a boy's name for the little one.
We have a few of our own that we really like but are really torn between them. We do like a distinctive, unique, tough name. So we've had Pijke and Bouke in mind for quite a while now but are a bit afraid of how people will react and whether these aren't too unique. But we keep coming back to these names. My partner prefers Bouke and I lean towards Pijke. But we also like Jelte, Tijn and Jurre?
All the names fit well with the last name. We'd love to hear your opinions on this because we really can't see the wood for the trees right now. ????

Then wait until your little boy is born and see which name fits him best. I'm sure you'll know then, and Pijke and Bouke are great names. You could also choose to give him both names: Pijke Bouke plus the last name. But my advice is to wait until he's born and then pick the name that feels right to you. We really can't decide that for you, since it's a feeling you get when you hold your baby in your arms. Will you let us know which name you finally chose?

Thanks, Lotus, for your message. We’ve also been thinking about choosing the name at birth, but we’re quite indecisive, so we’d rather make the decision earlier. Maybe the question then is more about what people think of the names Pijke or Bouke? We’d really like to know what family and friends think, but we don’t want to ask them directly so it remains a surprise for them.

Ooh okay, well then I'll leave it for now. Marieke, Pijke, and Bouke are typical Frisian names, so yeah, I can see them. Bouke is more like Pijke, and I think they're fine names By the way, it's also because I live in Friesland, hahahaha Good luck making your choices, girl, and lots of luck in the future with whatever name it ends up being.. It'll surely be a beautiful name

????Hahahah in that way you find both names fine. They sound familiar to you. Here in the east you don’t hear them, hence the doubt. But thanks for thinking along!

And what do you think of Tijn?

I’d definitely go for Bouke if you don’t live in Friesland (because it rhymes with Pijke). I think it’s nicer too.
I think Tijn is a nice name, but it’s quite trendy. If you want a less popular name, I’d go for Bouke, Jelte, or Jurre.

I'd go for Bouke or Tijn. I think they'll come up with a different name for Pijke when they're teenagers.

    I really like Tijn!

Pijke sounds a bit strange to me, probably because I've never heard it before, but I wouldn't choose it myself. Tijn is by far the most beautiful of the options you mentioned.

I think Tijn and Jurre are much prettier!
I do know that you hear them a lot in Friesland, but honestly, I'm not really a fan.

I meant that you probably hear a lot of Bouke and Pijke in Friesland, and I'm not so fond of those names.
I think Tijn and Jurre are beautiful!!

I think the names sound nice, though I do need to get used to them. I like them better than Tijn, which feels so ordinary. Other options: Thore, Fedde, Luuke, Malte, Seppe, Akke, Keije/Thijs.
