Test

Hi!

I took a pregnancy test three days ago and it showed a faint positive line, quite vague to be honest. I took another test the next morning which was negative, and again this morning it was negative. I'm feeling fine otherwise, apart from occasional sharp pains a bit above my right groin. Can I assume it was a false positive?

    Hey Liza,
A line is always a line and remains a positive pregnancy test. The fact that it first shows positive and then negative could be due to your hCG levels dropping, which might indicate an early miscarriage. To be sure, you can visit your GP and get a blood test. In the blood, you can see your hCG levels even if they are very low. A pregnancy test is sensitive to a certain amount of hCG. I myself was pregnant in February without knowing it because I took a Clearblue early test, but it showed negative. I went to the GP because I had symptoms of a miscarriage, and the doctor confirmed it in my blood because the hCG hadn't completely disappeared yet. I'd say if you don't trust it and want certainty, getting a blood test is the best option. Good luck!!
