My partner and I have an appointment next week in Bruges with Dr. Isabel Desmet to discuss IVF-ICSI and start as soon as possible.
Are there any couples who already have experience with IVF-ICSI and can share some info about the treatment, costs, and their personal experiences?
Hi Daisjj
We only have experience in the Netherlands and that was a good experience. We got pregnant on our second try. We didn't really have any costs.
Hormones and egg retrieval are really no fun, but it's for a good cause and luckily it's over quickly!
@Daisjj,
I really don't know anything about it, otherwise I would have told you things.. Maybe check if there's some info online, that seems like a good idea..
Love Ju and keep us posted on a smooth, quick pregnancy...
Have you already had your introductory consultation?
What I can tell you is basically the same as Louise: hormones make you fly off the handle every now and then. This happens because everything is moving at full speed. If all goes well, they will artificially kickstart your cycle using hormones, and your body reacts to that. The egg retrieval procedure is painful, but the calmer you stay, the better it goes (it’s actually the same with childbirth). I had 6 ICSI and 3 IVF treatments myself almost 10 years ago. For some reason, we (eggs/sperm) just weren’t a match. It’s a long story that I’ll spare you. In the end, our relationship fell apart, partly because we had been so focused on getting pregnant for 3 years that we lost sight of each other and our relationship. It’s really important to keep talking with your partner!
I’ve been with my current partner for 5 years now, and we got pregnant spontaneously. No idea why it didn’t work earlier. My ex has since also had a child with his girlfriend. So I still believe we simply weren’t meant to be together.
I read your story in your other thread, and your situation is completely different from mine. So I’m sharing my whole story now because it’s just as easy to explain everything at once and avoid questions/uncertainties. And mainly because I don’t want to discourage you with our failed attempts. I think if our relationship had been solid, maybe the whole crazy ride wouldn’t have been necessary
Lots of strength (also for your partner, hormones “are a bitch” ) and especially success!
Please keep posting, even if you feel like crap and/or insecure during the treatment. Those feelings are all normal, and we’ll all help you through it! (Right, ladies?)
We went on Tuesday to give my partner another sample so we don't have to do that anymore, and on Friday I need to call to make an appointment so we can get started!! xx
@Daisjj,
Yeah, I had read something like that before about donating sperm and getting started. I also replied saying that there are doctors who do understand it. How are you doing otherwise, girl?
@ju 12-11
I sometimes feel really disappointed, I just long to be pregnant,
and I'm afraid it won't work out but well, we'll wait until we can have a talk xx I'll keep you updated x
Thursday, October 4th we have to go to the appointment, pff I hope everything goes quickly now because our wishes for our little boy are growing bigger and bigger xx
