Pregnant and having surgery.

Hi everyone,

I've been on the waiting list for a while now for an operation on my groin/hip, which requires general anesthesia.
Originally, I was supposed to have the surgery in April, but it got postponed due to high demand.
But now I've known since Saturday that I'm pregnant. My GP advised me to consult with the gynecologist, but I don't have an appointment until June 8th. I've also made a phone appointment with an anesthesiologist for advice.
Postponing the surgery until after the pregnancy isn't an option. Otherwise, I'd lose the ability to walk halfway through the pregnancy.
I've read online that the advice is to wait until after the first trimester, and that it's safe then.

But does anyone here have experience with this??

Best,
Miranda

I'd suggest talking to your gynecologist. You won't benefit much from other people's experiences because you don't know if they're in the same situation as you. You don't know what kind of anesthesia they want to use, etc. Get advice from the people who are going to treat you; that'll be more helpful.

Yeah, I'll definitely do that too, but I feel powerless and angry at the hospital right now. I naturally want the best for my baby, but morphine isn't good either!
Everyone is different, that's true, but I was hoping to find someone with experience. ????
